Hi there, I like to play Settlers of Catan, sometimes I rage at the game when it doesn't go my way, but that doesn't matter. All that matters is that even if I lose it's always someone elses fault and not my own because I never make mistakes in this game.
Think it’s actually in Black’s interest to give you the plow given Red had all the space in the centre. Would mean 3 people blocking the 6 ore constantly instead of having his 8 wood blocked by Red all the time.
Hey friend, when you click thru game stats at end, maybe 1-2 seconds on each panel instead of a quarter second? Love the content. Also love to analyze the results at end to learn more. Keep the vids coming. Been watching from the start!
I think the reason Red said that one 8 roll would allow him to win is because he probably had 4 wheat and 2 ore on hand, because he had 6 cards and an 8 would have given him the last 4 ore he would have needed for a double city, therefore the win. Either way, great video!
Big blunder citying the 3 wood instead of settling the wheat port since it’s much harder to settle than city for you. Didn’t matter in the end though with the lucky VP pull.
I definitely see your point here, but I think it’s actually a close call, settling on that turn requires me to 3:1 resources to get the brick I need, and then I’ll be left sitting with ore in my hand, unless I chose to port my ore which sounds bad considering my ore production, so I figured I’d just get my final city over with. I thought it’d be riskier to pass with ore in my hand rather than just building my final city, so I think it’s a super close call and can def make an argument for either. I thought building the settle to win would be easier as I can just port for the brick at some point, whereas on the other hand I’m not gonna always have 3 ore in hand, so that’s why I chose city Also @Drengen10 I’m not sure what you’re getting at because I did pop that turn, do you mean popping 3 times rather than building a city or settle?
What I didn't understand is that at 22:11 you got 2 wood and 3 bricks, you could've built 2 roads and connected your roads from 6-3-11 to 9 (with the 3:1 port). Then you win, right? I am probably missing something, so what am I missing? I just realized, of course after commenting, that you have already longest road :D
gg! i would personally also have placed the second settle on 6,3,11. however, i would have tried to plow red to 4,11 brick port. i get the feeling you never saw/considered this option. also i didnt make much sense to play the first rb that early since you didnt settle with the yop. also i would have used the second rb expanding to the sheep port.
And ye my initial plan was to YOP to get the settle but my plans changed, don’t think it was a bad use of my first RB since I wanted the port, and can only play 1 dev per turn, my only worry about going to the sheep port is not getting a long enough road, think it would’ve been easier for someone to go for road had I gone to sheep port too, but sheep port also would’ve been good for me at the same time so tough to tell for sure!
C&K videos are very time consuming as they usually take 3 times as long to record and edit compared to base game. But I’m not done with C&K I’ll be uploading some in the next season 😎
You messed up with that discard when sevening out at the end. Should’ve tracked red’s cards and instead of discarding your ore, discard the sheep and grain so you can pop twice
Oh absolutely, noticed that while I was editing! I think I discarded the ore mainly because it was my highest production, wasn’t thinking about what I’d steal, it could’ve made an impact on my winning situation for this game for sure
1. VP 2. Monopoly 3. Knight 4. Longest Road 5. Year of Plenty the goal is to win the game, yall are over analyzing things... getting a free point tops everything else... so many scenarios where getting 1-2 knights doesnt help you win cus another guy has 4 half way through the game
I mean you can totally make a case that any dev card is the best in a specific scenario. But not putting the monopoly at #1 is blasphemy, mono will more than often give you 2 VPs after using it, and in many cases is a game winner. VPs just sit in your hand and make you a target because of your down dev. The only time where VPs are better than monos is when you’re pulling for the win
@@catanblunders5113 too many scenarios in my eyes where mono doesnt help enough Sometimes you have to wait 5-6 turns just to be able to get 5 cards of a single resource Rather be 10% closer to winning guaranteed
Definitely a blunder by blue not targeting orange at the end, I thought it was a tell that he had 3 vps, but in the end he only had two and he was just dumb
@@catanblunders5113 It was very metal! Also I only recently realized you are from Canada; I spent a day in Calgary, then a day at Moraine Lake, and also a day in Vancouver a few weeks ago!
No way! If you’re ever back in Calgary lemme know and I’d be super down to grab a beer with the dupinator! Where are you from again? I’m going to Denver next week to see green day
@@catanblunders5113 WHAT? I was in Calgary and I missed ya?? That's a damn shame! I went to this bar near my hotel and got a really good burger and fries, and they asked me if I wanted gravy for my fries, wow was it unexpected AND good. And hell yeah I will hit you up if I travel to Calgary again! I'm from Virginia
@@UnorthodoxMasterOfGames haha that’s definitely a Canada classic to have gravy with fries, poutine is the best! Lemme know if you’re ever in Calgary again homie!
I think you should have double popped instead of dropping the 2nd city on the low production spot at 06:32. This would might have given you very likely a better headstart with army tbh.
That awkward moment when you 7 out and are still over. . . (16 cards, discarded down to 8 and you don't want to rob from him so he can 7 out again lol).
23:55 It doesn’t say on the progress card, but in the rulebook it states you can place a basic knight on the board if you already have both your strong knights on the board. It’s funny how there are these random situations that pop up in Cities and Knights where a unique thing happens and my friends and I have had to break out the rulebook in person to figure out how to proceed.!
Well placed and well won! I agree that 6-4-2 idea was key here; I didn’t see that myself so that was cool to see you catch it. Also that exclaim when the 7 hit after you were high rolling had me dying lolol that was so quick. One thing I think that may have helped at the end - if you settle the 3-4-11 instead of building a 3rd city, I think that might close it out faster / defend your win more. Getting the city and building a road ended up working well here, but if you settle instead you become more unblockable with the tripled 4 sheep and extra wood production.
13:22 Yeah, was a mistake to not pop first, but should've still popped anyway. I think you just turned one mistake into two mistakes by not popping 17:12 Cutting blue's road would've extended game and improved your road chances, not an easy play though without benefit of hindsight. I mean by that point it already wasn't looking too good.
Yeah absolutely, I passed too many times this game with too many cards in hand, I definitely should’ve asked in chat to help me plow blue on that other turn!
Should have picked 8/4/3 for your second settlement I think. 1. You can trade wheat with black since he will need roads and should have extra wheat from the 4 and his ore being blocked. 2. You can still build 2 roads backwards to the 4/5/11. You will be racing red but it's worth the risk. Blue isn't really even a threat to take the spot since he's much more interested in the 6/3/11
Yep, this game is not exactly known for bringing out the best in people, even in the board version. Add to this the anonymity of the online version, and you got yourself the perfect recipe for toxic behaviour.
I would have done 4511 6912. I don't love it as you don't have a good port but you are in tough spot as is. Your path to victory is 2 early cities and buying lots of devs. You will of course need the 5 and 4 to roll.
Basically what I thought when I looked at this game again, 6 3 12 as well maybe to block out the 6 ore a bit more, still think this would’ve been a very hard game to win no matter what
After editing this game I noticed another placement for me that would’ve been pretty good as well. Let me know if you also see it, think it might have been better 😎
@hermannschieder7959 16 pips is not enough imo to play a strong ows game. Black already has 12 pips of ows with their first pick alone so it will be hard to beat them to army.
Wasn’t thinking about the 9-10 after the fact although it’s definitely a consideration, yeah I think the better pick was 4 5 11 with 6 9 12, still think this would’ve been a really hard game had I picked those
