Dr. Liu is a beloved host at the Taipei Broadcasting station and we are all ecstatic that her program 《有緣千里‧話音樂》Which I will loosely translate to: "Fate Across Miles : Exchanging Notes” has been honored with the Arts and Culture Program Award. The show explores the lives and contributions of musicians while integrating perspectives from Eastern and Western musical cultures, offering listeners diverse approaches to engaging with music. The program features 52 music ambassadors from abroad, sharing their passion and experiences that weave the story of Taiwan, or Formosa.Through interviews, these musicians talk about their best moments spent on the island. **[Soundbite]** "The program not only delves into the journeys and contributions of musicians but also skillfully contrasts Eastern and Western musical cultures, presenting an internationally elevated musical perspective. Cultural Content MUO to Boost Creative Industries 北市府與文策院簽署文創MOU 攜手推動文創永續培育 厚實臺北文化續航力 In a significant move to support the cultural landscape of Taipei, the city government has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency to launch the "Taipei Sustainable Creative Industry Support Program." This initiative aims to foster long-term growth and sustainability in the creative sector. The focus will be on supporting the cultural and creative industries in Taipei through investments in cultural content, aiding creative startups, and deepening partnerships between culture and business in areas like ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices. Since the United Nations established its Sustainable Development Goals, Taipei has been at the forefront of promoting diverse cultural creativity aligned with these objectives. The city government has previously supported creative teams through grants and international showcases, achieving notable success in cities like Tokyo and Bangkok. The "Taipei Sustainable Creative Industry Support Program" is now accepting proposals until October 31. Creative teams interested in contributing to Taipei's cultural sustainability are encouraged to apply. 3. New Medical Opportunities with Tokyo for Taiwan 臺北智慧醫療技術亮相東京國際醫療展 創造臺日合作新契機 Last week, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Economic Development led a delegation of 14 high-quality smart medical enterprises to the Tokyo International Medical Expo (Medical Japan, Tokyo). The exhibition highlighted three key areas: smart hospitals, smart patient rooms, and outpatient care zones, showcasing Taipei’s leadership in the global smart healthcare sector. The event attracted 497 professional buyers, facilitating estimated procurement opportunities worth approximately $3.193 million. The Tokyo International Medical Expo is Japan's premier medical exhibition, covering sectors such as healthcare, long-term care, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals. Participating companies demonstrated their AI innovation capabilities in smart healthcare, utilizing immersive exhibits rather than traditional booths. This approach garnered positive feedback from Japanese buyers. The Taipei City Government's Department of Economic Development emphasized its commitment to organizing international trade exhibitions, including visits to Indonesia and Japan, fostering connections between Taipei businesses and overseas markets. 4. Ask To Enter: Win Hotel Stays and Dining Vouchers 走訪臺北「借問站」! 集章抽飯店住宿券、餐券等百項大獎 The city's tourism service system includes travel service centers and mobile support, along with new "Information Stations" established in partnership with local businesses. The Taipei City Government is launching the "Information Station Stamp Collection Challenge" from now until October 28. Travelers who complete tasks will have a chance to win prizes such as hotel stay vouchers, dining coupons, retro tote bags, bike experience vouchers, tea gift sets, and Taipei city souvenirs. The Department of Tourism and Communication hopes this initiative will draw more travelers to Inquiry Stations, allowing them to better understand the services offered and enhancing the overall travel experience. 5. Eco Friendly Stay Initiative: Green Points and Extra Prizes 臺北夜綠宿 淨零愛地球 入住環保標章旅館抽百萬綠點 早鳥還有禮券拿 As the autumn season invites travel, the Taipei City’s Department of Environmental Protection is encouraging green tourism . From now until November 30, guests staying at certified eco-friendly hotels in Taipei can enter a raffle for a chance to win a million green points. Currently, there are 15 eco-certified hotels in Taipei, and the city plans to assist more hotels in obtaining this certification, providing travelers with more sustainable lodging options. Let's start with some exciting news. 1) Taipei Ranked as the Friendliest City in Asia - 亞洲最友善城市--台北 Taipei City has been ranked as "Asia's Friendliest City!" According to Preply, a language learning website, this ranking is based on factors such as return visit rates, diversity acceptance, and safety. Taipei scored the highest among 20 cities in Asia, particularly in "Diversity Acceptance." With also high scores in safety and friendliness toward tourists, Taipei has earned its title as the friendliest city in Asia. Taipei Fashion Week 2024, co-organized by the Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, runs from September 27 to October 30. This year’s theme, "DressCode: Taipei Dresses Up Taipei," invites everyone to showcase their unique interpretation of the city through everyday fashion. Director of the Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tsai Shih-Ping, said: "Taipei Fashion Week always offers something special each year. This year, the show inside a stylish old-house café in Dadaocheng really showcases our creativity." The Taipei Military Dependents’ Village Cultural Festival invites you to explore these historic communities. Throughout October, you can visit preserved military dependents’ villages in Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, and Keelung to catch a glimpse of life from the past. With the theme "Remember Forever," this festival offers a great opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of the military village era. Known as "juan cun" in Mandarin Chinese, these villages were established in Taiwan in 1949 to house soldiers and their families who arrived with Chiang Kai-shek’s Nationalist army. The Taipei International Birdwatching Fair is happening on October 19-20 at Guandu Nature Park. Organized by the Wild Bird Society of Taipei (WBST), this year’s theme is "Neighbirdhood." As Taiwan’s largest birdwatching festival, it draws bird watchers from across Taiwan and around the world to Guandu every winter. Located along one of the world’s eight main migratory bird routes, Taiwan attracts nearly 7% of the world’s bird species, thanks to its rich ecological resources. Visitors may even spot the rare black-faced spoonbill at the park. The medals for the 2025 World Masters Games were revealed at a press conference on September 26. The design blends the skyline of Taipei 101 with the Queen’s Head rock formation in Yehliu, representing both Taipei and New Taipei. Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an commented on the design: [sound bite] (台北市長蔣萬安語音) 「這次的獎牌設計非常有意義,它象徵著台灣作為蝴蝶王國的精神,並且融入了‘北’字的造型,代表雙北攜手舉辦這次的世壯運。」 The World Masters Games will be held from May 17 to 30, 2025, first time in Asia.
