On the negative terminal of battery you should ONLY have the wire to the shunt and eventually the bus bar. Any other connection to the negative (like to the inverter) should be at the bus bar not the battery directly. The idea of the shunt is to measure total energy in and out of the battery so you can't have other connections (ie bypassing the shunt) as it will give erroneous readings.
@kendyltravels
@kendyltravels 7 часов назад
The battery has the connections as you mentioned - inverter runs directly to the bus bar, just as everything else does.

Did you put in the parameters of your system into the shunt and controller?
@kendyltravels

I thought I did but I’ll have to recheck them, thanks!

You may eventually want to upgrade your solar charge controller to an MPPT one. Also, if you get yourself a LiFePO4 battery, you'll have twice the amount of usable watts because LiFePO4 batteries can be brought down to nearly empty. Whereas AGM can only be brought down to 50% before the battery is dead.

Thanks! Decided to go with the cheaper option for now instead of lithium since we don’t plan to stay in it long term!

How did you get such cheap tickets?
@kendyltravels

That was the price on Ticketmaster for the VIP with my code when the Amsterdam tickets opened. Just the fair market price!

What kind of wood did you use for the cabinets?
@kendyltravels
@kendyltravels 5 дней назад
Our kitchen and bench is metal that is original to the camper but the new cabinets are pine.

So pretty! I ordered the wallpaper myself. Did you find that you had to have the glue as well or was it sticky enough without it?
@kendyltravels
@kendyltravels 7 дней назад
Absolutely I needed the additional glue! I don’t think it would have stayed up without it. I’ve watched some DIYs they didn’t include the wallpaper glue and gravity made them fall. 😅

Good job! I was wondering if you could cut a hole out in the cabinet to mount the inverter on, so you can plug a device directly without opening the cabinet?
@kendyltravels
@kendyltravels 12 дней назад
I'll actually be running a wall-mounted extension from the inverter. Currently our only plans are to charge our laptops with the 110 so this will be an easy solution while keeping it in the cabinet.

Did you mix the cleaner with water then too? What portions? I’m going to do the same, clean and then paint! How long did it take to dry? How long did the paint take to dry? Did you tape the zippers?
@kendyltravels
@kendyltravels 14 дней назад
I just used the cleaner to the instructions. Paint dried really fast since it was so think with such a light coat. I left the camper up for 48 hours just to be sure before I closed it again and a few months later I still haven't seen any signs of the paint coming off, creasing, etc. I didn't tape my zippers mostly because the color was so similar to the new one I added! It felt like a waste of time after I started the project. Hope this helps!

That old popup (frame and base) actually looks to be in pretty good shape, except for the holes in the tarp. From a popup owner to another, be sure to properly support the beds when they are extended out, inspect and lube the cables that raise it up, and don't forget to inspect tires and wheel bearings.

Just the inside is painted with a thin coat to clean it up. I'm leaving the outside as-is but cleaning and adding a new coat of Fabric Guard to help with moisture.

Absolutely! I can't believe people just sit with their thoughts and sounds of power tools working on projects. The best part is I already read the books so it's easy background listening. I've enjoyed listening to some of my favorites during the project!

you need to invest in some bar clamps. You could have put some glue on that board in both places that cracked, bar clamped it together and you would have never noticed it. I also wanted to point out, in the previous video where you used the chop saw for the first time, never, never, never cut something without holding it tight to the fence (the back part) that could be very dangerous and you could have gotten hurt. If you are afraid of the tool then mistakes happen. If you don't want to hold the wood, then clamp it in place. But never cut it without holding it. Over all your video is nice. Don't forget to seal that new counter top. I suggest boiled linseed oil. Gives it a nice finish and is all natural. If you don't care and want something tougher, then look into Polycrylic by Minwax or Polyurethane. Keep up the good work. Feels good to look back and see that you did that.

Enjoy watching your pop up journey. Its bringing back memories of when I did mine. Just remember, don't neglect the biggest part of the whole thing, your tires and axles. Without those in proper shape you will end up on the side of the street or sitting in your back yard not going anywhere. They can be expensive to fix depending on your situation and how handy your husband/you are. They are two person jobs.

Thanks for following along! I actually had an entire camper inspection upon buying it, which included a look and test of everything under, on, and in the pop-up!

Hi Kendyl, I am just starting my reno of my 1985 Palomino pop up! I was especially interested in how you painted the canvas on the inside. Mine leaked over the winter and got moldy. Ugh. Super excited to see how you finish yours. I have a lot to do on mine! I just subscribed, too :)

I know you probably dont wanna hear it. Because it was the last thing I needed to hear as well after completely rennovating mine, but..... those tires need replaced. Like I know most people say ehhh it will be fine they are fine. But then those are usually the ones on the side of the road with a blow out. And they ARE NOT fun! In terms of the mechanical things, you MUST without a doubt and cant just say its good enough, replace the bearings, greese the bearings, change the tires. Trust me on this one!
@silentraven37
@silentraven37 2 месяца назад
I second the motion on greasing the axles. Un-greased or old grease can get very hot while traveling and cause failures and blow outs.

Your paint will eventually flake off of your trl. because you neglected to first abrade the surface using a fine grit sand paper or a coarse scotch pad.
