Glad I found this video. I was looking for a 7 PRC. Deciding between Begara, Weatherby Model 307, and Christensen Arms. Will definitely mark this one off my list as I was building off the barreled action.
Why didn’t you just ask for a new gun? Rather messing with fixing it, I’d have insisted on a new firearm. I have a Titanium Ridgeline in 6.5 PRC, and it’s fantastic. Sorry for your experience!
I'm after my first 7 PRC this year and have been looking at Christensen. But, this seems to be becoming a more common theme with Christensen, they clearly have quality control issues that they're not addressing. The fact that the gun came back to you not even wiped down speaks volumes of company culture there. Thanks for posting this, I'm taking them off of my radar for my own next rifle.
Im very interested in a light 7mm PRC that I can suppress. Any remedy for this rifle? Is there another you would recommend? Thank you for making this vid.
I have a CA Ridgeline in .280AI. Very accurate with hand loads. I’ll never buy another CA product. I’ve had it 4 years and took 150 rounds to shoot. Hits pressure early, bolt lift and action is subpar and customer service is embarrassing.
Looks like a big ole Beech . Whenever they fall it's firewood time. They burn real long and hot. Real prevalent here in NEPA and over the border into NY . Oh and I guess that's just a light load, not a subsonic. Thing was still pretty LOUD ! Nice vid !
Hey there young man you need a heavy stock or a muzzle break for that guns recoil , be nice to the pig your going to shoot , 400 grain at 1800 FPS gets the job done and no hollow points or FTX Hornady.
I own 4 scopes Vortex, 15 x Leopold, 20 x and 2 SWFA 10 AND 16 fixed my thoughts on your review is that you can't give a good review of you really haven't tested the scopes in the same way, that is tracking. The SWFA has a superior tracking abilities even though I paid much more for the Vortex I chose the SWFA over my others. My Leopold is a fine peace of glass, I have mounted on my Sako classic 7mm I incased it in a glass cabinet, it's just to pretty to shoot, better a show peace. I will be replacing 2 more rifles with SWFA, OTHER THAT Night force , for the cost theirs nothing better.
Ive been looking at and listening to and reading every comparison of Vortex VHS LR 4-16x50 vs SWFA ss3-15x42 FFP . and everyone else picks the SWFA over Vortex.I love Vortex. The SWFA ss is hands down better. With that said I picked up a Swarovski z6 3-18x50P thats almost new, barely even used. And the SWFA is close to it.. My friend took it on 2 deer hunts in a stand.I got it for $1300.00 and its a $2,000. scope. My friend thanx for the video but I think you are way off as does almost everyone else.It sounds like you need a Canon Color Camera more than a scope. You love COLOR
this particular projectile is suited for game probably under 200lbs. I don't hunt pigs but I do hunt white tail and this round is spectacular for that kind of lighter bodied medium game
When you said pig did you mean wild hog? Also, 45-70, I think, originally meant .45 caliber bullet, (obviously), and 70 grains of black powder. Maybe see what the equivalent of TrailBoss is to the 70 grns. Black powder and start with that. I think that was the original meaning of that 45-70 designation. Please correct me if I am wrong. What kind of rifle/carbine are you using there? I couldn't get a good look at it. I'm just curious. Hope you don't mind? Anyway, good luck with your pig/hog killin.

funny. everybody else picks the swfa over the other two. I used weaver t36 scopes on my bench rifles or nightforce, but for a spr I would go swfa all day and twice on sundays. the tracking does it.
swfa tracking is 2nd to none, vortex tracking is a crap shoot. if you want better glass get the swfa with HD glass. vortex has never been milspec for a reason.
you can't really compare a 300 scope to a 450 scope n then to a 1000 scope but outta the three I'd definitely take the swfa tracking is reliable it's very durable good all around scope
In my experience, Vortex PST illumination is extremely dim and can only be used in complete darkness or with night vision. I can't even see it on a night with a full moon.
K so yea I have the Conquest @ 3x9 I bought this scope with a Rem 700 in 223. Had It mounted, went to range to zero, yada yada yada. Over 4 years now I have used this scope with total confidence. I have used at 100 yrds (big picture) to 600 yards (very small picture). Guess what, no matter which range I choose the PICTURE is always the same. VERY. VERY crystal clear. In other words, at 600 yrds I see the same CLEAR target vs 100 yards. The size changes but nothing else. I paid 399 bucks for mine in ought 12 after my last AFGN tour. I will never have to replace my long range scope, A 2ft by 2ft target is the same size at any range. How u view it helps, how you shoot it is what makes or breaks ones view. 600 yrds / 1/2 MOA by 5 rnds w/ REM 700 PRIM* ammo and a CZ 3x9 Conquest MC scope.
I used Trail Boss a lot for reduced power .223 rifle rounds and 45LC, 44spl, and 38spl loads. Works great. I cut shell cases off and use them as powder dippers for convenience sake. Another thing, every time I see somebody lean their long gun up against a tree or a fence, I see my little friend's father dead from a 12 gauge shotgun blast when his gun fell over after he leaned it against a fence while hunting back in the midwest more than 50 yrs ago.
eqlzr2 I too use Trail Boss for 223 Rem, 243 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, 270 Win, 30-30 Win, 308 Win, 30-06 Spfld, 300 WM, 338 WM and of course for BigThumpper...45-70 Gov'mint. Thank you for passing on that life changing experience, it reminds us to Always be safe. You may very well have saved someone's life by reminding us what Has happened.
Take a look at the Meopta ZD 4-16-44. It's a great scope. The AO is the only down fall, but it's so well done and the AO is dead accurate with the #s. Set it to 200 it's bang on. Only time I have to tinker with it is at 16 mag. And it's just a couple 1/4 turns and it is perfect. No slop in the turrets, built like a tank. And the glass is outstanding. It isn't super eye popping color wise. But the contrast is amazing. And it is the best scope I've used for low light. Great reticle, also it's made for a 20 MOA base. It's only got 40 MOA. But with the 20moa base it's great. No fringing when it's at the bottom either. Had it 5 years and it's still going strong. Even after being dropped, banged around on a quad. And they cost the same as these scopes. Plus it's got real nice illuminated ret. Just can't say enough about it. I can easily see 7 mm holes in white targets at 400+ yards. It's that Schott glass they use. Plus lifetime transferable warrenty in NA. And no I don't work for them. I was just told be a buddy how good they where and grabbed it. I've got a new older Nightforce on my Target rifle which is great. And had a couple Vortex, which I had problems with. And just traded for a Burris XTR2 3-15 plus cash. But my Meopta is my favourite by quite a bit, all round.
The round hole on the belt hook is there so that the knife can be attached to the outside of a button-up shirt and act as a neck knife. Mora makes great value knives.
