Finger spell word divorce ? I have been doing video a week from the series with my three year old. And we practice it every morning. This has been absolutely brilliant, thank you so much.
is there any chance you could do signs that would be typical for a conversation in the house. like ‘i’m going for a shower/bath’, ‘did you do the washing?’ (clothes and/or dishes), ‘do you want to play a game/watch a movie/tv show?’, and maybe some reactions to things like ‘that’s crazy!’, ‘that’s so cool’. i apologise if you’ve already covered these things!
Is there a difference in how you are signing you / your? I've noticed that sometimes it's a single finger point, sometimes a couple of fingers, sometimes a palm with curled in fingers (like this video "You look young"). Does it just depend on the preceding or following sign and what is an easier transition?
Good question! 'You' is signed with a single finger pointing, 'your(s)' is signed with a closed fist. For some signs however it may help to not think of it as a direct English-to-BSL translation, e.g. in 'you-look' the word 'you' is inferred from the direction of the sign (the two fingers represent eyes and they are looking at the person). Thanks for watching ☺️
I can certainly suggest watching again and again. It definitely helps speed up learning of faster fingerspelling! Margate (Kent) Lyme Regis (Dorset) Bournemouth (Dorset) Ballyholme (Bangor, Northern Ireland) Torquay (Devon)
I am gradually losing my hearing and have hearing aids. I wasn't always this way. I am in my early 40s. I have tried following these videos. I can't keep up and remember. Is that normal?
Fingerspelling can be quite difficult to pick up, it's common for new learners to struggle with it. Keep practising and your speed will increase over time. In most real life conversations you will have context and often a lip pattern to follow (most signers will mouth the word as they spell it). Good luck on your learning journey 🤙
I got them all! Thanks for only doing the ones from the originals. I’m old enough to have memorised the first 50, then 100, but some of these new ones have ghastly (😁) names and just sent cute like the originals 😭
