@wolfereeno 2 месяца назад
No, it's all algorithmic or random. I don't use any predefined sequences. I just pick a scale and a key. The max object has hundreds of scales and modes. I'm too lazy to plan sequences or songs in advance. I pick a few sounds, tweak the key settings, and see what comes out! Thx for commenting.

Fascinating. I do Tommy’s ( he does say Sonny came up with it ) a few times daily & other stuff . Singles grid etc . I found a few 160 & there’s Tommy 190 . I kept up till the paras but it’s moving along . Maybe back to slower & incremental move up . I gotta check out Alan Dawsons’ routine too .

At the start, looks like the right has a bit of a Moeller pump going on while the left has the fingers more isolated? Is this the case, or just an odd camera angle making it appear that way?
@wolfereeno
@wolfereeno 3 месяца назад
Keep in mind this is just Tommy's warmup routine. And after you warm up you should have a lot of other things you practice. If it's a hands/pad day, then after I warm up I usually go deep into accents, which gets me more into the moeller approach. (also, reminder, this vid is sped up. I created these to practice along to)

@ShredTraining
@ShredTraining 4 месяца назад
@@wolfereeno I don't need the written parts, I know it from memory. I have the original .mp3s. I want to try it at higher speeds, but not at 1.25 speed of the versions on here... because I'm not a robot
@wolfereeno
@wolfereeno 4 месяца назад
@@ShredTraining I posted 250 as a joke! I use 190-205 for my own practicing depending on how I feel or what I'm doing. I do different speeds for matched grip as well as when I start on my left hand or for various practice pads or sticks. Re the notation, it would be helpful for others if the video had the notation. If you find one, send it to me. But since I already wrote the scripts, I'll post some vids based on what I found.
@wolfereeno
@wolfereeno 4 месяца назад
@@ShredTraining BTW, if you have the mp3's there are a lot of great tools to modify the speed. I use Reaper to do these. If I set the project at the base tempo, which happens to be 180, then it's easy to set it to other tempos and play along or render a new file.

@wolfereeno
@wolfereeno 8 месяцев назад
Not sure how to describe my style overall. I'm a drummer so I try to adapt my style to the music. That said, this whole experiment is basically me by myself. With no constraints, I think it's a bit all over the place, but it is kind of true to how I let loose when I solo, albeit with a lot of electronics. In a way I'm working towards a one man band kind of approach, but not really. I am a big prog and jazz fan, so there are some of those sensibilities in there like odd times and playing over the bar lines. I suppose I should record a video of where I started with all this and where I want to go, or at least a few nuts and volts about the current setup. One of these days. In the meantime it's all just happy accidents I record while I work on my max patches and learn more about modular while I hit things with sticks.
@wolfereeno
@wolfereeno 8 месяцев назад
The cosmic truth is that in spite of being a drummer I have always LOVED synthesizers. And hooking them together 30 years go led to a few realizations. Other than loving weird sounds and music, which I do, the main realization was that each object on a drumset has a weight or gravity to it which you become familiar with. You expect certain things from each limb, each drum or cymbal, and when the music calls for it. You can feel music pulling you towards these things! When you mix them up, it creates an unfamiliar disorientation; What's not where you expect it throws you off. And when you can adapt to that, you find when you return home to the familiar configuration of your instrument, you bring new things. Musical Gravity is a real - a bass drum or flam on the floor tom, is like Home to drummers. Put a "Ting" there, or a moving scale across the toms, changes your expectations. How's that?!

@wolfereeno 10 месяцев назад
Thx! You don’t need much of an ekit to control either vsts or modular. You can do it with a very modest set. Mine just grew over the years but my kit contains many component from my original td7 kit bought over 27 years ago. And the mesh pads are over 15 years old. I tend to keep up with the module itself, but the td50x is underwhelming. I could have stayed with the td30 a lot longer. Thx for the comment.
