I was given one of these today….thanks for sharing the info as trying to find out what it can do and I’d like to think I’ll master it but time will tell…
Your video has been great! I've been making canes on my regular lathe and using rasps to do spirals and thought there had to be something better. Found out about the router crafters then this video and I picked one up yesterday. It's missing a couple of the hex heads and the bushing for template but I don't need to start out. What would you recommend I do to be able to hold 1.25 round spindle at the maximum 36" length? Did you ever fabricate something like that? I saw the extension, but I need the longest length possible so I don't want to extend with a chuck and shaft. Maybe a modified spur drive somehow? Not sure how I'd get it in the 1/2 square hole.
This is a great vid. I got my crafter two or three years ago on an online auction . Just got around to opening it 😂 missing the handle but no big deal. I’m glad I watched this before hooking a drill up to it to drive it back and forth 😂
Hey, thanks for watching, liking, and commenting, the fenders for the 1977 PE250 are new UFO universal yellow dirt bike fenders front and rear Just needed some holes drilled in proper spots on fenders for mounting. Take care and have fun moto riding! JR from A1CFS-moto
Hello Thanks for watching the vid and asking us what blade we use! 4-1/2 in. 24-Tooth Circular Saw Blade from DeWalt tools Thanks! Take care and have fun with your projects! JR at A1CFS.com
I acquired a Crafter some years ago at a yard sale. Now that I have seen your channel I can make some gifts for family and friends. Thankyou for doing these videos.
Impressive work, very finely tuned craftsmanship. Having tried this machine, JC makes it look easy. ...i ended up doing a lot more sanding than yourself!!,,😉. Thanks for sharing.
Чистота обработки и сама конструкция - полный отстой. На обычномитокарном станке, с регулируемой подачей, всё можно делать намного аккуратней и быстрее. Зачем надо было мастерить такой геморрой, не понимаю 🤦
I just finished building the handrail on my deck ru-vid.comUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z and used this great little router to clean up the top rail before the final sanding and stain. It was light weight but packed lots of power. Either size battery didn't seem to make it top heavy and I'm a 64 yr old women so I really appreciated how easy it was to use...................... CORDLESS only way to go !!
You don’t need a lathe or welding machine to make spirals but it definitely helps to have this in a workshop anyways! The most important thing when fabricating anything from scratch is a positive attitude and outlook and a never say no spirit!
Can you control the spiral length ? I am looking for having 45 degrees rotation of the piece of wood, while the router moves 6inch during this 45 degrees rotation. Is it something that can be done out of the box ? Or do I need to 3d print or machine some parts ? Thx a lot !!
Hello, Thanks for watching and subscribing ! We appreciate your questions Yes, the spirals can be started and stopped anytime using clamps on each side of guide tube. 45 degrees is no problem on the Sears Craftsman router crafter! Have fun with ur woodworking adventures! Sincerely, JR at A1CFS
I bought two such machines thinking that I could get twice as much done, but after using the duplicater part, it's too easy. I'm going to sell the second unit, I saw three others on kijiji, and the prices are through the roof, one in Calgary for $600, and another in Newark for $345, just crazy prices
Hello Tim! Thanks for watching A1CFS channel and commenting Crazy prices on those Sears craftsman router crafter machines! If you can find one…. People trying to gouge out a few more bucks is sad! Luckily our neighbor gave us a great deal on ours It’s a good idea to make a custom router crafter too. Glad you are utilizing such useful machines! Thanks again and have fun with your woodworking adventures! JR at A1CFS
Hey Tim thanks for asking what router bits we use Mainly we use modified spade drill bits from 1/4 inch to 1 inch ground into specific router crafter bits by grinding them into certain shapes on the grinding wheel. (See our video on this.) This is especially helpful when making hollow shapes on router crafter…. On the Sears craftsman router crafter, Roman ogees mostly modified and unmodified as well We also use 3/8 inch & 1/2 inch double flute straight bits, chamfer bits, 5/16 inch radius round nose bits Thanks again and have fun with your woodworking adventures Tim! Take care, JR at A1CFS.com
You should use a better stain than MinWax.. try General Finishes or Old Masters gel stain on pine.. it will finish so much nicer than MinWax.. shame to put so much time and craftsmanship into something and then finish it with a bad product
We are so humbled by our views and especially subscribers! Thanks extremely much to all of you subscribing especially asking pertinent questions! Sincerely all at A1CFS
Awesome video. I had a crafter many years ago and never fully explored its potential. After watching this video, I found one on ebay. It'll be here Monday.

Hello zanarking420 Thanks for watching and subscribing! Yes, those Lunkenheimer oilers are awesome relics from the past but are still useful in 2023! At the very least they are great props in a post apocalyptic Mad Max style movie! Thanks again
Bought one some 45+ years ago amazingly I still have it, now that the sands in the hours glass are running out for me it would be nice to pass it on to some one who would really appreciate rather than being passed over and tossed out with the rest of my estate.
Hello Michael! Thanks very much for watching our vids, liking, subscribing & commenting! Did you buy the Sears Craftsman router crafter new? Do you recall the year because we are trying to figure out when they first hit the market…? We hope you will utilize your machine soon or sell it on offer up or eBay or other online source. We really think these Sears craftsman router crafters will make a big come back! It seems they are still valuable to a select few like yourself who know the great potential they possess! Unfortunately many family members and friends will never understand the value of these unique simple machines… We sincerely hope you and your machine get the light💡and respect deserved in this life Sir! Have fun with your woodworking adventures! Thanks extremely much Michael, Happy New Year! JR and JC @a1cfs
@@a1customfabsolutions I bough it new in the mid 70's never really used it much but saw the potential so much so that in 2004 I bought a Legacy 1200 Ornamental Mill thats loosely based on the Craftsman Router Crafter but can literally turn circles around it. Now age has taken its toll and I'm looking to sell both "machines" so I don't burden my wife with my woodworking and woodturning tool collection when I'm gone, actually Legacy has quite a very active following and the Router Crafter has suddenly become sought after.
Hello Michael, Thanks for the response, We bought our Sears craftsman router crafter from a very cool retired guy who was downsizing his shop as well! I think he bought it new in the mid 70’s and used it but took great care of it and even made a simple bench for it. Yes, those Legacy Ornamental Mills are super excellent woodworking machines on another level than the router crafters from Sears! It’s amazing the culture around the Legacy mills. You should find some buyers for both machines easily, and quickly! Everything is CNC nowadays so it’s great to keep these “vintage” machines around to show the youth that before computers everybody used a slide rule and drafting board not CAD! It’s nice to meet people like you who are knowledgeable about the topic. Take care and hope your 2023 goes very well Sir! Sincerely, All @ A1CFS
Que Tal Porfirio! muchas gracias por mirar y aprender de nuestros videos, estamos muy contentos de que haya comprado una máquina de enrutador. So, you obviously are a master at your trade. Or, at least the guy who is doing the work in this video. I'm just a guy who would love to get into woodworking. I've acquired quite a few tools for my garage in hope that I will be able to get into this as a hobby. And I'm about to purchase this crafter in a few days. However, when I go to your channel's page, you do not have a website. I mean no offense, but you are missing out on a huge opportunity. If he can create router bit mods and jigs for this machine, or even recreate this machine as a whole, then you should be selling these. I would buy all of them right now. I'm sure you are selling your products, but you could be making so much more on the back end of this. Please reach out to me, if you have any interest in discussing this further?
Hello Miles, Thanks extremely much for watching, liking and commenting on our useful content! You are absolutely right about having a website! Fortunately we just started a website 2 days ago! Check out our brand new kickass website at a1cfs.com We are getting some tools and products together so that we can start merchandising and selling our own products on our own website and channel as well as others like eBay! Check out eBay right now! A guy from Canada is selling his Sears Craftsman router crafter! Soon we will be selling custom made router crafters as well! Give us a little time to fine tune things and get some meaningful tools for sale too! You will be one of the first to get a special discount code!! We appreciate your concern and enthusiasm Miles! Our master fabricator JC Torres is the main reason we are able to do such awesome useful creations and projects! JC has over 40 plus years of experience with carpentry and fabrication! He is currently out of town visiting family so we are without the main man in the shop for a few weeks! We are currently working on a video showing how to make a router crafter from scratch using common materials. Stay tuned! Let us know what specific tools you may need for ur shop! Thanks very much again Miles! Have fun with ur woodworking adventures and we hope to help as much as we can with ur projects! Sincerely, JR @ A1CFS 😎🛠⚙️🔨🪚🧰🗜🪛👍🏼🤠
