I like to see the different ways people do drill rigs. I just started figuring out SE and one survival start put me on top of a plateau 🙈 but I got the wise idea to put a corkscrew chasm all the way down 1.75km and then over to come out at a lake bed about 2 km sideways. So far I've got a 25 block wide drill head spinning 175km deep (13 hour drill time yikes) and thats only 10% of the depth. Once I get the bottom though I'm im setting up the drill like a late and cutting a ramp from top to bottom to drive down, then bore out sideways to get to the nice exit by the lake. About 3 km of hole 25-30 block wide because I want to make the sideways bore big too. Waypoints are helping a lot, but storage and production of the stone is a big challenge more tham getting the depth at that width. No ore at all, just stone but, theres so much of it I have too much material in a few minutes 😂 The gravel problem is easy injust collect it and when i have a large storage container full i have an automatic valve to dump it back into the hole i started drilling to gwt the base out of the ground. If i was thinking i would've put the main hols over the start hole but its my first episode where i finally got oast the first few things because building is a little different than what im used to in other games. Even without enemies so I could learn the game thoroughly I'm running into so many problems I have to build my way out of, so it is very interesting anyway 😂 Liking the event controller, I have a overfill shut off, and when the drill bottoms out it shuts down and oulls the head back up so i dont have to watch it, now to outrun the stone production. 13 big grid drills, I don't think I can at this level, but I'm going to plan a sorter network of cargos and when the stone cargos get full I'll shut down the drill until the refineries catch up then continue the drilling. Trying to use all containers set to a % I still need to keep shifting stone around a lot and I've got so many other things now I want to build on this rig/base 😂 so the sorter network is probably the best way to solve it I think. Constantly producing parts too so I can use up some material too and keep it all flowing but 13 big drills steady cutting makes a full large cargo in a few minutes though 😂
I recently built a scissor configured mining rig that reached a depth of 330 meters from the surface and gained a total of 30 milling liters of stone. It was a proof of concept to determine how deep I could get this system to mine. Now to reconfigure the mining ship I have built that is on the workshop to accommodate this massive 14 block tall system. The drill platform could be very large if needed. My main use of this system is to dig the initial access to the ore body for access by my ship miner that can further dig out the rest of the ore. The ships are called the Ultra Mega Minner MK3 or MK4. They are built in atmospheric and Hydrogen engine configuration. At the moment their depth of is a maximum of 70 meters. My original design only got to 3O meters. The introduction of hinges made this design possible. Though it was not my original idea, thanks to EpikTech for the design and Splitse for the original build. The scissor configuration is a bit tricky to get down and to operate correctly. The only drawback is that is slow, very slow. The end result is very large openings to access the rest of the ore. The block count is 5000+ and PCU is not as big as you would think. They are still massive ships, and the new design will be even larger. I want to be able to dig down to Gold and Silver. Those are some of the deepest ores on planet surfaces. Good job on the episode. Keep having fun with a game I have played for almost 7 years. I never get tired of it.
Nice video, I would like to see a ground vehicle with one or two support drones following it. This would greatly improve your chances of a successful mission.
Great progress! I feel like making an air vehicle would be like skipping a step in this playthrough. So building a tank to take care of enemy ground bases on the planet to then later move up into the air (and space) seems like the sensible way of progression.
I really didnt think the unbalanced drill head was going to work. Also is there a mod that gives you Fe, Ni, and Si from rock in addition to gravel? I could have sworn the refinery just produced gravel from stone. Edit: nvm, the wiki says the refinery gives you resources from stone just like the survival kit
Just saw your channel recently and love your content. I hope you don't slow down your SE videos for this, but I love this game and hope you continue this. Also, skip the storyline stuff unless you roleplay your reactions. There is my 2 cents worth of opinion.
Good to know, and thanks for your input! I just didn’t get many views and no likes for this game, but I love playing it and maybe I’ll get back to it if I can find the time.
Just found your channel. Only critique is 'maybe' slow down and walk us through ship/vehicle/base building. I would enjoy hearing you 'toot' your own horn, explaining 'why' you placed things where you did. Yeah, I know, lame constructive criticism. I've seen a little more this recording...thanks for that. I do think the recording is interesting and has good pacing. You have a good recording voice as well. So far I've watched r2r # 6 and 7. I'll probably go back and watch the previous. Keep it up. I hope you get found by more eyes. 😁
Thanks for the input! I started the series with nothing so episodes 1-3 are kind of scrambling trying to find enough components to really get started. If you are interested in the grind start at episode 1, if you want to skip the grind, episode 4 might be a better place to start. Whichever you choose, episode 00 is a cinematic that introduces the story behind the series. Take care!
Your base is coming along nicely and it's good to see people using the welder blocks for a change instead of hand welding. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
Thinking about it and remembering all the real life structures with that sort of beam supporting the roof I would have done them so they where above the armour block layer as a reinforcement to it rather than a support.
Can't wait for the next episode. I binged the first 3 but didn't get notified of the new ones even though I'm subbed, but then I got to binge the next 4. Gotta say, I couldn't do it. I barely make it even with a drop ship. Good Game
I love this playthrough so much that i got the game. Played it for a couple of hours through the first grind of just digging stone and then died when my suit ran out of power cause i didnt know how to recharge it. I also didnt know that an engineer dies when his battery runs out...
That’s great! I love the game and I want to do a beginner friendly play though when I am done with this one. But in the mean time there are a lot of good tutorials out there. At least… there were when I started playing some years ago. I’m sure others have continued to put out tutorials.
2 batteries (1 for outside charging the ship, the other inside making the inner machines run) 1 To Do list screen 2 blinker lights.. 1 camera and an Ore detector for the ship, also carry the necessary parts in the ship to build a drill, but remember to keep the ship light.. or it won't fly.. no rocks.. just ore.
I only add mods that kinda help but mostly one like batterys and all type solar gen and sive thing to help when I'm stuck with bad guy close its not to much cheat just take long time to get other ore and still have to wait to get platinum for tools and cobalt hard to get and gold and uraium
Hi I'm am enjoying your videos, if you don't mind I would like to suggest adding two quality of life mods to your game. Both of these mods add color to your Hub, one is "Color Hud" and the other is "Colorful Icons". This will just add some colours to your Hud. 👍
This is fascinating, I've never seen anyone try to play this way. Its not my place to tell you how to play but... I would have looked for a storage container and battery on the ship and connected the two so you would have a powered storage unit, or built one on the side of a surviving battery and and then grind down the ships for parts. Keep up the good work.
All good ideas. There are a lot of things would have done differently if I were doing it again. Like building the unconnected boxes/containers. I didn’t realize how little resources they take until after. *facepalm
Good question. The problem was power. I didn’t have a mobile power source until I got that hired gun ship to crash. Once I had that battery, I had enough materials to make the ugly ship, so I didn’t need a rover because the ship will be faster I think. I’m hoping to rebuild it as a grinder ship after I move everything.
Your stuff might still be in the containers at the station, you were in the connected containers mode which doesn't work for blocks you don't own. You need to have the helmet icon selected on both sides.
@@PsychoTheBear13 i've been looking at other play throughs. it seems when you move around you spawn more enemy bases. i built a base and have had at least four ships drop on or near me. they've blown my power apart each time 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, when the cargo gets full, however, it does strain the limits of those current thrusters. I almost crashed a couple of times because I couldn’t stop the downward momentum.
the hired guns flying erratically remind me of an injured bird trying to fly, almost as if they were in pain and were trying to get a grip of their situation. regardless, they held some good components
Thanks for the comment! The no jet pack thing is only temporary because I started with nothing. With no extra hydrogen tanks, I have to conserve the h2 I have in my suit because the only source I have is the trading station. I have to conserve fuel to get to and from there. As soon as I can find or manufacture a personal hydrogen tank and a good way to fill it I’ll be flying as much as I can. 😆
Yea for sure. I just need to get it connected to the base to power it. And connect some kind of cockpit to let me fill my suit. Unfortunately, I still don’t have any personal tanks so I am limited to the suit capacity still.
I am curious why you didn't completely build the light armor blocks of your tower since the big ship had so many armor blocks. It seemed the little ship kept 1-shoting you multiple times because a single bullet hit an unfinished armor block and separated the turbine or gatling gun from the rest of the tower.
Yeah you certainly have a good point. I probably should have. The tower is temporary because a base there would be too close to the enemy outpost. I was hoping it would be a lot faster to take down that blasted small ship than it was.
@@PsychoTheBear13 Ah, fair enough, I haven't played the game in quit a while so I'm not up on the current version. I'm still enjoying your series though. It's a neat concept and the game seems ripe for mods that would make this a properly supported game mode.
Yes! I displayed a list of mods in the first episode for reference, but basically it’s Sneaky Sounds and some NPC mods - Independent Contractors, Imber Corporation, Modular Encounters System, and Reavers: Terror of the Verse. The author is no longer supporting them but they still work for now. I am hopeful Keen will add a similar feature in the upcoming update 205. Crossing my fingers! (And maybe thirst and hunger?)
@@PsychoTheBear13 LOL i was grinding down one of the random drops and right next to me a huge ship drops from the sky. Scared the crap out of me. I didn't see it at all. Next thing i know KABOOM. Im looking around and see a huge ship sticking out of the ground
