I completely agree with your comment about coughing. I really get angry that so much beautiful work by such a wonderful choir has on it now, because of people like this inconsiderate oaf, the gummy hands and fingerprints of some jerk ... male, female ... who finds it acceptable to put themselves between the listener and this beautiful music. Would Michaelangelo's Pieta be better once your kid's filthy hands covered it with sticky candy smeared all over it? Would that be your idea of "the human condition" as well? If your kids decided to take a shit in the pew would THAT be "the human condition" as well? There is no reason why people who have some problem or illness to LEAVE THE THEATRE. Personally I would be happy to offer the entire audience a full refund of their ticket price and make the person coughing pay for it. This is a performing art. Its whole existence IS the performance. To mar or diminish the loveliness of this performance is to place one's lack of talent and discipline on a par with those persons on stage who actually HAVE talent and discipline. "Human condition" my ass.
