LeSynth has been in love with synthesizers since the late 80s. He learned synthesis on an Aries analog modular system, spliced 30 feet of magnetic tape to make a cool loop, and learned sampling on an Akai S900.
Over the span of a few decades, he has composed thousands of cues for film and tv, dozens of electroacoustic pieces for concerts and radio, as well as hundreds of electronic tracks for the web.
LeSynth is passionate about synthesizers: vintage, hybrid, modular, virtual. His studio has been and continues to be home to many electronic instruments, some with incredible history, others with an unforgettable character. He loves the variety of design, sliders and knobs, the endless possibilities that this instrument offers, and he finds tremendous joy at coming up with fresh synth sounds, new textures and combinations.
my MF's keyboard has completely fucked the touch i have to moist my fingers a lil bit to play only the note i intended to play other wise if i touch one note next 5 keys automatically get played. i have tried powering my MF by powerbank, ipad, usb hub, 2 pin direct wall plug and directly to my mac. while recording it in garageband it does show that i am hitting several keys at once while i am touching only one key. man i think i have to buy another midi keyboard and connect it to MF 😢
Are you using the original power supply? Some people reported a similar issue when they used a different power supply than the one provided by Arturia.
I have the same obsession as you on synth gear (I have endless playlists for any machine on RU-vid), but probably I do not have the same money of you, so my obsession focuses either on cheap synthesizers or even worse on used synthesizers that cost very little and that fascinate me, and so the obsession also becomes searching the Web for the lowest possible price for that machine. Then when I buy the gear after a lot of research, I use it a little and would like to sell it to buy another one that I almost always saw on RU-vid. Of course, I end up with a lot of small synthesizers that I use very little. Lately I have been focusing on the Stylophone CMP DS-2 Analog Drone Synthesizer, which will cost rather little, but fortunately for me it will only be available for purchase in the late September of this year. 😏 I think I suffer from severe acquisition syndrome as you or worst. 🙄😏
FABULOUS VIDEO My Man 👨 😊 Ive built up a Wonderful studio over the past 10 years and have some Amazing synths, but I must admit theMicrofreak has always been my favourite mainly due to the fact I never got a chance to do a year or two of sound engineering and learn synthesis but the,,Freak,, basically teaches it to you , like no other synth can !!! Its too late now, but as soon as I wake up tomorrow morning, I'll be rewatching this EXELLENT video 😊 Thanks for sharing Dude ❤❤😊 Jaffa Jenkins jams, 😊
@@barryjefferies3201 thanks so much for the props! The MF _is_ a great instrument for learning synthesis. I think you just gave me an idea for a future video! Thanks!!
TIP: To take the sharp edge off the black keys gently use an Emory Board (fingernail file) to round the edges. It doesn’t take a lot of effort so go slow. You’ll find that you can now slide your fingers easily across the keyboard.
This is an excellent video! Very helpful and intuitive. Great use of visual feedback to help with getting descriptive explanation of the sound across. Cheers bud x
This is one of the best videos iv seen, i feel completly the same with my drum machines, anf i have alot haha....also really courious to try the Perkons! Please make more vidos like this! :D
This was an excellent tutorial/show and tell of tips and tutorials for the Microfreak You are an excellent teacher, and video producer. I hope this channel continues to grow as well it should !
@@sub5electronicsI’m on my second Freak. It’s still about the most frustrating synth to learn, but there are hundreds of decent presets you can download for free, and there’s bound to be a few dozen you’ll like.
I’m pretty sure they have an identical raw sound, but the MiniFreak has its own effects added so that changes the sound. Also, please note that the audio tracks/synth sounds in my videos are compressed and limited in Logic, so they sound more ‘produced’/in-your-face.
Editing the mod matrix is really frustrating, for me. If they'd just given us one more knob so we had one to select the entry and one to adjust it, it would have been so much better. I get that wrong more often than I get it right.
@@TooSlowTube I hear you, and I get mixed up too. I’m my experience with synths, they ALL have issues, things that bug me/us, and yet… we have eternal GAS!
I have an overwhelming urge to dig my freak out for a spin after watching this. I didn't have any outboard FX when I got it and the Micro can sound a little anemic without anything to spice it up. I bet my Virus TI2's effects will sound sublime with it!
Excellent content ! I love the dub techno kind of sound you play at the end, fantastic. I like to use unison spread on wavetable patches, it really helps reveal their full potential... I remember that right from the first firmware version there were some amazing things hidden in the wavetables (long before the user wavetables). I found sort of acoustic piano sounds, and later choirs thanks to the addition of the unison spread. Now that there is the Snap mode for enveloppe, I use it a lot, especially for bass sounds.
