I'm sorry for the late reply. When it's in the early stage in the oven, the batter does float/puff up a bit. Once it turns brown it should flatten out. Or you can try a different oil? Recently I've been using olive oil in that recipe. If that doesn't work, try 1 tbsp of oil.
