Thank you for a well argumentet analysis of Twin Peaks, very hard to come around on RU-vid. However, I struggle to understand your interpretation of the "Magician" being "Us" (the viewer). What are your evidences for that conclusion? The only reference to a magician in Twin Peaks is the grand son of mrs. Tremond - we have the scene where he shows his magic trick by moving the creamed corn, where we are told that he is studing magic. The boy is dressed up resembling David Lynch himself with both his hair and his attire. With this I think it is fair to conclude, that "The Magician" is a reference to David Lynch himself or at least the Gordon Cole figure in the series. If "the Magician" should represent "us/the viewer", Gordon Cole should represent us/the viewer, which I also do not find any evidence for. But I would like to hear your thoughts about that. Thank you again for a good work.

Laura's hand gesture is ESL for tree or grow. The arm becomes a tree, and cooper must 'grow' to escape the black lodge. The future's past would also be the present. Is it future or is it past?

It's not. As you've even pointed out David Lynch did not like the Invitiation to Love show. I WISH some of the supposed "major" Twin Peaks fans would do more research on this as it's always being used as "evidence" despite that David Lynch himself has confirmed that he doesn't really dabble in Meta or allegory. Thanks for making this video!

Thanks for the thorough and interesting interpretation. I enjoy finding the potential meanings for things in Twin Peaks, and a Lynch work (of all things) should reasonably be assumed to have more than a surface level meaning. But I must point out that your reading of the 'whooping sound' completely divorces it from its obvious surface level intention and that context is helpful in concluding that at best Lynch found a meaning in the sound unrelated from the reason he first included it. When we first hear the sound it is not made by the Little Man but rather directed towards him by the Great Northern Waiter in the season two finale. The sound is referenced in the script as the "indian whooping sound" and given how the sound is made by patting an open palm over the mouth its clearly invoking outdated depiction of Native Americans from old Western films. The actor who played the Waiter was one Hank Worden, who is best remembered for his frequent appearances in Westerns (including 1961's One Eyed Jacks); in 1956's The Searchers he plays a character who repeatedly says "Thank you kindly!" a phrase also spoken by the Waiter in the season two premiere, and in the same season's finale Worden again references The Searchers with the whooping sound, a sound / gesture his character made in that film. The surface level interpretation is that the sound is one of several cheeky references to an actor's filmography and nothing more. I'm still happy to accept additional meanings but your take also seems to ignore that the sound is explicitly 'indian' and given how spotlighted native culture is in Twin Peaks, it seems obvious to suggest a connection there too.

Nice video 👍 i wonder if the characters there represent the 4 yugas? Ive seen a conflation between electricity and demonic spirits represented a number of times in fims/shows. Gigi Young has an interesting take on electricity you may find of value. After watching and anayzing TP its hard not to see the dark magicians of Atlantis still at work in both the development of atomic weapons and the work of CERN. Theres no doubt in my mind they are attempting to unleash demonic spirits into this realm. Stranger Things is just one of many stories based on this.

For electricity and fire and using them to travel and in dreams, you might have seen the Dreamachine, the rotating cylinder with openings, on a vinyl, with light from a suspended bulb inside, flickering out of it at a certain rate, related to whats in our mind, while people around it "watch" with closed eyes and eventually see shapes, depending on whats in their mind and all. Kurt Cobain reviewed it in a video, it's on RU-vid. I thought, after watching it, how well it links to Twin Peaks and even in S3, where Philip Gerald says "Electricity" and the flicker starts with the smoke and Cooper shuts his eyes and then travels. The Symbol: Laura tells cooper hes stuck here for 25 years....until then... meanwhile....experience whats coming or meanwhile, get entertained with this..." and makes the symbol. I dont think she comes back after that, until 25 years later. If you notice, it's a reversed L (if not two L's together facing opposite ways like an inverted T, or Normal L if you count the extended left arm), perhaps DoppleLaura (Mirror reflection), that he has to face now, doppelgangers with inverted eye color. Your inner evil materialized and of others. Dopple Laura is already in that pose, paused, when Cooper sees her and then she animates. A dream turned into a nightmare. So I see the symbol as Laura hinting and prophesying about DoppleLaura. We see more hints given to Cooper, for things that happen later in here. Like when Laura screams in the face of Cooper, a sudden burst of a few images of Windom inverted appear on her face in the same expression that Cooper later sees. Keeping that in mine, as the super imposed face, that can represent either a prophecy or that all of them are the same being, BOB, or possessed by him, as Caroline and Annie keep interchanging also. Which also brings me to S3 where Cooper sees Sarah coming down the stairs and the Jumping man appears in a single frame. Was that a hint that its the same person or a prophecy of what the is going to see later, which I don't remember if he does. Was the Jumping man in the show in just that one frame or did he appear later? I totally forgot and need to watch the show again.

We all have our interpretations. Mine goes with the ones inclining towards it being the magic phrase, the chant of the magician, as it says so, ("I mean it like it is....like it sounds", so no hidden meanings, it is what it says. MFAP chants it out, to start the circle of fire around them, as the opening of the gateway, like the Red Curtains appearing for you to enter. So when the fire starts around you, or you're in the middle of the 12 sycamore trees, or near the 12 burning candles, you then walk through the fire, traverse beyond, to the "middle place", the Red Room, that the entities in the room above the convenience store are looking for, longing to see, since they had been going up and down, through electricity, as you said previously, in the mental realm, the place of ideas and dreams. MFAP chants it, and fire starts and he walks there, with Bob following him. They were looking for the middle place and then they enter it, I'm still confused by "Furepast" "Is this Future or is it Past?" So is Futurepast: The Present? Mark said on Reddit, "It's always the present", when someone asked him. But if Red Room is the present, then why does the poem say Future Past, where the Magician longs, to see (The Red Room). I dont know, lots of words. But who is One? I think I saw that spelt with capital O. "One chants out". MFAP chants it once here and other time in the Red Room when Cooper Enters and things get scary, Cooper's time and tests starts, while Laura, who is the One, also chants it, as she shows Bob inside of her, activated, allowing him to make his presence known, as she says ME. Bob wanted to be Her, as we see their reflections in the mirror in the murder scene. So you can clap like MFAP and say the words to start the fire and open the portal, you can, as the Magician kid, snap your fingers, Either an orb will form above the head or the fire will start. And you're ready to enter the Red Room, like Laura did in her dream. But coming back to the Grammar of "FIRE Walk With Me"... as FIRE is written on top, bigger letters, there is focus and attention there, on the note from Laura's diary. She must have learned the phrase in her dream from MFAP before writing it down there. The torn note may suggest her ritual, to enter. We see MFAP in Laura's dream showing the Ring this way v<>v and not A<>A, as the first one is what Cooper changes to in the cave, the key to the Black Lodge, perhaps fire symbol or black fire or Fire and Electricity (the green) and gold being the conductor. So whether the Magician or The One talks TO the fire to walk with them, or says, FIRE to summon it and then asks the other(s) to walk with the one who opened the gateway.

I think when MFAP says “ doesn’t she look almost exactly like laura palmer” could also possibly mean that when leland looks at Teresa’s picture for the first time in fire walk with me he says you look just like my laura, that scene also implies that leland was also (if not more than bob) to blame for laura’s abuse the whole time.

Honestly, while the way you source what Lynch actually said is pretty convincing, it's also a let down that the poem is based on such a hokey pseudo-platonic philosophical idea and culty TM stuff about mantras and vedas. I prefer to think of Twin Peaks as a set of imagery, sounds and largely nonsensical story with no deeper meaning but with a strong dream-like effect on the viewer. I like the show but I don't think it benefits from having meaning, even if you can find it if you look for it.

The "Jumping Man" is David Bowie's Jeffrey. More specifically, his Doppelganger. Jeffrey states he was in one of his meetings. We are shown the meeting but no Jeffrey. Actually he is there represented as the Jumping Man. To drive this point home, the Jumping Man dances and is holding a stick. Bowie dances and holds a Mic. Both wearing suits. On the 3rd season, the Jumping Man is inside the TV and walking down the stairs where Jeffrey is [Jeffrey being safe from his Doppelganger by hiding in a Tea Pot... british humor).

The Jumping Man's face briefly becomes Sarah Palmer's face in his scene in Season 3. Also, when Sarah removes her face, a large spike protrudes outward at one point, similar to The Jumping Man's nose. The creature that crawls into young Sarah Palmer's mouth in New Mexico also has a long nose. I've always thought since Judy already existed in the years prior to the 1956 sequence (we first see her in 1945) and the creature comes from an egg, that it is not Judy who possess Sarah Palmer, but The Jumping Man (who is her "puppet" i.e. he has a Pinocchio nose). Additionally, David Lynch said in an interview that Phillip Jeffries was not a teapot and he wished he made the "spout" straight instead of curved to avoid that confusion.
