At this point I’d rather pay Apple for a FCPX subscription where we actually get updates to the platform than pay all these 3rd party subscriptions. Or maybe just do what everyone else is doing and switch to Davinci Resolve
If you are using FCP, you don’t really have a free option that I know of. Captions ($10/month) and CapCut are a subscription or are limited in their options. Plus I don’t want to edit on my phone. I think the value proposition is there if you are making a tiny bit of income with your videos plus access to all the plugins.
Great point! Yeah there are some cheaper (paid) options, but MotionVFX is the leading plugin developer for FCP for a reason, the quality is so good. Everyone's situation is different and this will be valuable to some, and not be a good fit for others 😄
Interesting to see. Would love to see a comparison between this and captionator. I use that and it’s a one time purchase and although it looks like the workflow is a little more cumbersome than this, the one time fee makes it worth it I think. Great demo though!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jordan! I've tried Captionator before and I found myself making a ton of tweaks to the output. But it's a lot cheaper. The upside with mCaptions is very little editing after generating the captions and I guess you are paying for that convenience. Good idea for a comparison video though! Thanks 🙏🏼
Select all of your audio files and assign them a Camera Name in the inspector window like I did with Cam A, Cam B, Cam C and Audio. That will keep all the audio files on one angle.
If it’s two different mics I would label everything from the first mic as Audio 1 and everything from the second mic as Audio 2. That will keep everything from each individual microphone on its own independent angle, but will still sync all of them together. 😄👍🏼
Yeah for sure. But the subscription is for more than just the captions. It's for all the elements and the convenience of being able to add and edit captions in FCP without leaving the app. Since Apple hasn't added it natively, it's an alternative solution, although not for everyone. @@Brad_West Thanks for the reply, Brad. You are 100% correct. However I think MVFX knows that most people, I’d wager that number at 75%, only want the Captions. Similar thing with Roto AI. They made these bundles that have assets that 75% of the audience will not use. It’s obviously their business and they are free to do as they please, but forcing people to buy unnecessary bundles at these prices is a tough pill to swallow. Great work on your end by the way. This is in no way a knock at you and this video. Just the overt disregard for what people buying these bundles really need from the MVFX team.
Great video, use all of these regularly! Didn't know about the custom effects preset tho, thanks! Ps. there is also a glow setting on most titles so you won't have to add the glow separately unless you want to : )

I understand from a business perspective that the idea of predictable income is good for business, support, upkeep, updates, etc. I also know from a consumer perspective that a once-off fee is an easier pill to swallow. Having the choice between subscription and once-ff payment would be nice, but I think it boils down to whether or not each individual sees value in the subscription/product. If the value is greater than the cost then it's an easy decision. If it's something that a person won't use that often and it's hard to justify, then the thought of subscribing to something one might not use all that often, sucks. I guess not all subscriptions/products are for everyone. Those who see the value, will go for it. Those that don't, won't. And that's fine either way 😄
It would be nice if there were other options in terms of the payment. Subscription vs or once-off (lifetime) vs once-off + 1 year of updates (and then the option to pay for another year of updates). At the end of the day, not all subscriptions/products are for everyone. We can only do what is best for our own personal situation. Those who see the value and can justify it, will buy it. Those that don't, won't. And that's cool either way 😄
@@Brad_West Oh 100% I mean I use FCPX for my commercial work and have subscriptions, but I am just hoping this becomes a native tool in Final Cut soon instead. Same with the Role Audio Channel Mixer would be amazing!
WOWW! Absolute GAME CHANGER! I know people are upset at the subscription, trust me I'm not a fan myself. But the value is SO there on this one. I'd rather cut other subscriptions in order to afford this one if it comes down to it. It's honestly too convenient for me not to get this. The amount of time this is going to save me is worth the extra cash
Yeah I hear you. When I consider any subscription, I ask myself "Is this going to make me more money than it's going to cost me? Whether in actual money from clients, or getting my time back." I subscribe to music sites, stock sites because of the value they provide me and what they allow me to do for my clients. In my mind, this falls in the same category and is very useful to me. I know people aren't excited about subscriptions. It would be nice if there was more choice in terms of the payment. So cool! I wonder how well it does with mixing languages? For example, I often switch between English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Mandarin. How well will it distinguish the languages? Or will it do like RU-vid auto captions and assume it's all just one language? This plugin seems great, but I JUST dropped $300 on CineStudio....🤑😅
Yeah they make great products. It would be cool to see Apple integrating auto captions natively. I would love to see a text based editing feature from Apple.
This means that Apple will add the possibility of cutting strokes and we won't need an external plagin to do this But frankly, this subscription is very important and they can solve this by simply adding the possibility of buying only the subscription without a subscription.
It would be nice to have the choice of a once-off payment or subscription. Or even a once-off fee that gives you 1 year's worth of updates and then you can choose to pay for continued updates after that or stick with what you have.
@@lilianaalvarez8039 Text based editing would essentially transcribe the audio and output everything that was said as text. You could then delete paragraphs, or words or sections of text which would then make those cuts on your timeline.
I can see myself using mCaptions a lot for the social media work I do for clients. It's fun to use. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it too bro!
Very clever and very interesting but when are these companies going to realise that, for most of us, we cannot subscribe to every subscription service there is out there. When I see that software packages are going to cost me lots of money every year, I click away and find alternative software. I'm guessing that the companies with a subscription model manage to get enough customers to justify offering the pricing models they do offer. I choose my subscriptions with very great care and generally avoid them. In short, a service has to be spectacularly useful to me before I consider subscribing. I hope Apple does not go down the subscription route with Final Cut Pro but fear it will happen one day. Thank you for the video. Always useful to watch and learn.
Yeah I hear you Richard. I feel the same way. I only subscribe to the services and tools I find the most value in. I use FCP daily and it's how I make a living. If Apple ever made FCP for Mac a subscription I would be sad about it, but I wouldn't hesitate to subscribe because it's a tool that allows me to earn a living. I kind of look at subscriptions that way when it comes to anything editing related. "Is this going to make me more money than it's going to cost me? Its a joke....they still didnt give the advertised mo3 plugin while charging full price for the cinestudio plugin and now this as a seperate subscription. Like there ultimate renews at 828 Dollars. Even Adobe is cheaper. Next year something new comes and then they charge 1500 Dollar per year?? This is too expensive and I regret spending money on them.
The cost is getting scary. To get features in other NLEs FCP is now nearly $900 a year. Granted this is more powerful but even the cost of entry basics for this is expensive. Compare that to what you get in CapCut Pro (a much lower subscription). We still hope the basics are in a future FCP upgrade which will be a big hit on mVFX profits. Overall it's an awkward situation for FCP, FCP editors, and plugin developers. All this makes Resolve more attractive as it has all the basics included and yet there are a lot of mVFX plugins that can be purchased as needed. Perhaps the whole thing is OK if you just go month to month and only pay during the month you need it for paid client work. Otherwise, it's a big expense if most of this is only used occasionally.
@@Brad_West So meaning Final Cut Pro is very safe if I use here FCPs And Other Template no CPR in YT..Becuase I worry About it because I use the free effects template and FCP Sorrt for my English
I would love it if Apple implemented that feature as a native feature but we’ve waited years and they haven’t. At least you also get a ton of other elements as part of the subscription.
