Great channel!!! Were you able to have sound for apple carplay WITHOUT running the Aux cable from the harness to the Aux outlet in the armrest?! See people having sound issues with carplay (phone, Messages, directions form maps/google maps, etc.). Also, do steering wheel controls work with this unit (long press phone for siri, scroll wheel for scrolling, etc.)?
HI! I carried out the same procedure, and a limit appeared on the speedometer. But when searching for KOMBI HUD_PIA_SPEED_LIMIT, ESYS does not find anything, HUD is installed f30 2015.
I appreciate the video. I almost spent $700 on a box to get Android Auto in my m235. You have to use the dumb wheel to navigate everything on the screen. In my last 330, I used the wheel exactly 0 times, cause it's a touchscreen... You can get a retrofit touchscreen that does everything the blue box does for like $230.
That’s a complete different system which you can retrofit but you would need all of the parts from a car that had the package. It will not be added in with this module. This module just grabs predefined speed limits from the GPS data and displays it on the dashboard

Is it difficult to push the AC vent down/any tools needed or just force? I don’t want to drop glovebox so trying this method but don’t want to break anything?

Great video with explanation. To fit in the box on the right side of the ventilation was really tight, but I managed to get it there. Then to get the BMW audio unit in.... You need to fit in all cables really good before you can put it back. Overall, few hours work and it works perfectly. My F31 2013 didn't need the AUX jack. Fibre cable is needed in the new harness indeed.

If it’s the same part number you can 100% swap it right out. Lots available on eBay cheap! May just require very minimal programming, like telling the module your VIN or similar.
I ended up having to fully swap my suspension, in this video I was on coilovers that aren’t meant to have air cups on them. Bought a whole new set and completely redid the install, clips all got mixed around and I was never able to make a full proper video. On the NBT ID4 unit, one should never install factory carplay. It only has 2gb and will lag & crash. You'd have to install ID5 which isn't meant to run on an original NBT unit like what i have. If it was a 2016+ car with NBT EVO ID4, that may work. Some of the units are 4gb which is what the minimum suggested is to run id5 with carplay.

You do not need to connect the aux cord. I have the same car, just make sure you get that optical cable transferred over on the quadlock and you're good to go.
I would love this, but how does it affect the current digital display. Not wanting to jeopardise the large digital speedo. Do they have room for both? Any images please?
