If you buy em for 120 now they will sell the next keys for 500.... either dont do it or become part of the problem. This is worse than Nexon and all Korean publishers combined times infinity.
Intrepid (the company making Ashes of Creation) made it very clear from the start of the Alpha 2 announcement years ago that the Alpha two was always going to be a "buy in". Unfortunately, some people expected that if they waited long enough that would change. Now with it clear that is not going to change, with another round of keys being sold, they are upset they are not getting something for free, even though the whole point of an Alpha is to test an incomplete game. People are buy in to pay to work. The main reason people are doing this is because Ashes of Creation has the potential to great a next level MMO that could soar above the mediocre offerings we have seen for the last decade.
yea its been kind of painful watching everyone reacting to it. Good quality content takes time.. you cant expect your games to be amazing 10/10s and also want them quick and accessible early.. not how it works.
@@rubikquitous8482 I still think people are ignoring what Intrepid are saying. The buy in, is to keep the sightseers away. This Alpha test, because of the differences in the game and the Agile development methodology, is going to be more like work, and less useful for learning the game than any game before. The upside is that you will have more input into the final design of the game. When it comes down to some quite important design elements, like (say),"Should you be able to swim in heavy armor?", I think the people testing will influence those decisions. So test or not, the decision is up to you, but don't claim that Intrepid misled you, because they have made no secret that if you are paying the money to play the game, you are going to be disappointed, at least until phase 3. (not aimed at you, using you in the plural sense)
@@TheToledoTrumpton for sure, good to clarify that as well. Your absolutely right. The other thing is that this kind of practice could help change the industry if we the consumers act like adults and are patient.
Nice video. Thank you for presenting your point of view. Now to your topic. I don't think Intrepid could have done anything different. I also have a high kickstart package so I am not worried about it. Then others wanted the to get keys so they purchased those 200?-250? bundles and so Intrepid sold them and then stopped when they felt like they had enough testers for alpha 2. The offered this package because of the meshing tech increased the server population load. Moving on along a couple months more people wanted the keys. Intrepid then gave the community what they wanted knowing they had enough testers, but wanted to please the community. Now there are multiple reasons why the prices where set that high. They wanted people who are serious about testing and not just playing the game. They wanted people to not dwindle out and the high prices make people want to get their moneys worth so they will test longer. Also, they had to consider the other packages and kickstarters that had keys. So they where in a spot of who to make the least mad. Your highest backers? Your bundle holders? Newest key purchasers? Lots to consider in the decision that Intrepid had to make. Again, I appreciate your video and your take. You where constructive and to the point. Good job sir. Hope my wall of text makes sense to you. Have a good day. :)
pretty much agree with everything said in the video. this is coming from someone who mained mortal online 2 for quite a while. and what you're describing with clan monopolies and protection money was way worse and on a whole nother level in mo2 than osrs even. I really don't wanna see ashes make the same mistakes.
quick question, how does this simulate the open sea if the area of the tropics and the desert at the start of Phase 1 is less than 15km^2? I can guarantee it wont be 750km^2 like the ocean/sea is supposed to be by the end of Phase 2, the whole point of this video is that this small area(in comparison to the open sea) will not be even a close representation of what open sea combat will be since these areas will easily be monopolized strictly off of sheer size by large groups/guilds. lmn if you need a more concise explanation.
🤣🤣 very funny, good thing you've posted that explanation, I wonder how many will actually read it, 10 dollars that's an amazing idea 🤣, think about all the poor people out there!
Before everyone tries to crucify us in the comment section for this skit, it was meant to have comedic satire, we understand intrepid is doing there best to make a great game and we trust them to do right by the community so lighten up a little before you try and say something emotionally charged in the comment section.
No controller support or console support, so I dont really care about this game. It's not the 2000s anymore...no excuse to not develop for console as well. Good luck in 2027 when it maybe releases...
we are, just not at the start of alpha 2, they said that isnt a priority at the moment, mostly content oriented stuff is the priority, this is referenced from past livestreams.
high possibility that the renkai is at the beginning of alpha 2 since we saw it in game wearing the carphin plate armor during the warrior showcase, renkai should be epic haha
i have 2 guesses for what area we will get, Riverlands/Dessert/badlands which makes a nice triangle play area or the bottom half of the western continent (this might be omtimistic but not entiely out of the scope of things i dont think, since they were working on the redwood forest like 8 months ago art wise content wise they havant though)
@@veeshan222 I think this is also a pretty good guess honestly I was thinking the redwood forest could be a thing and maybe the icey area we saw during the unreal engine 5 stream
i honestly think they dont mind revealing 70%, steven did say a region was good to go online at about 70% completion of the area containing (content, ect)
i am literally waiting for ashes since 2019 lmao i get email from them from time to time, ngl, my hype is low now since its been to long, i aint even playing MMOs anymore, i stoped like 2 years ago, really sad man, but will give a try when FINALLY releases
Someone asked if they were going to Pax West on the Ashes discord server (it seems like a few people are anticipating it because of the line up on dates) but the answer right now is not officially. Great breakdown video!
