Winnie Wallace... I bet Cilla was a bit of a handful. She was a great story teller and people credit her with being down to earth, but I recon if you messed with our Cilla and she wasn't happy.. you'd get both barrels.
a time in life when people had class and were more respectful of oneanother , i was a young boy here in New Zealand and Cilla had a tv show on a saturday night that i use to watch and after that was the muppet show .....how times have changed
Of all the songs to be picked this is the worst because the words have been changed so those of us who can remember it are possibly a bit disappoineted, because it does not make sense.
A totally horrible and vile woman. Hated by all British Airways cabin crew staff and TV production staff for her behaviours. She wasn't seen much on TV in her latter years as a TV exec who was a runner in her younger days refused to have her on TV. Good riddance to bad trash!
Last night in a rehearsal in Brooklyn, NY the guitar player was gushing about Dionne Warwick singing the title song of the movie, "Alfie" and how our 24 year-old keyboard player-savant (who barely knew the Beatles) should learn it. I don't know much about film but I said, "Hold on, that was Cilla Black!" He disagreed and popped open RU-vid to prove it, and me right. I never actually saw the movie but I loved her performance of the song which was a fairly big hit on its own here in the States. Dionne later did a terrific version of the song too but Cilla sang it with such strength and authority that it remains my favorite. Same with Anyone Who Had a Heart, which I performed years ago in a bass/vocal duo with a Brit singer. Being in the States I never knew that Cilla had a long and successful career in British television because those shows were never broadcast here. I just considered her an amazing vocalist so this video was really interesting for me. Glad I watched it!
I was only talking to my 86 year old auntie last week about how we loved the telly when we had Blind Date, Bruce Forsyth, Terry Wogan and Paul on his chat shows. RIP to all of them, Doddy as well. So many happy memories, and they were happy days.
A real success story . Humility still with them both. Wonderful story and people. Every time I hear the last song here ' Liverpool lullaby ' I really want to cry. Thanks John (Australia)
i never liked cilla when i was a kid mainly because i didn't get her jokes until i was older, was always a fan ever since lol RIP Cilla and Paul both british icons!
