My childhood was ruined when I found out about the 'interview' process that determined who got called to be on contestant's row; I always thought it was random picking of names
I was lucky enough to go to a taping the week after 9/11. I whiffed the interview, froze up completely. I came to see Rod Roddy as much as Bob & the show, but this was right after he had surgery so Burton Richardson was filling in. It was the best time I ever had. Afterwards as my friends and I were leaving, we got invited to be in the audience for Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. Also got to see The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. On the way that studio, I’m pretty sure I passed Norm Macdonald in the hallway.
And that ladies and gentlemen is how you stack the deck to meet the DEI requirements. Obese Hollywood liberal dude gets to pick the contestants.👨🏿🦲👨🏿🦲👨🏿🦲👨🏿🦲👨🏿🦲👩🏿🦰👩🏿🦰👩🏿🦰👩🏿🦰👩🏿🦰👩🏿🦰🤷
We attended a taping around 1988 and they had to stop the show when a man got up and pushed his wife and started yelling. He was an elderly gentleman. The only part that made the show was seeing Bob Barker look into the audience as the argument got loud. They escorted both of them out and started the taping again.
Just a great example of the illusion that TV is. The viewer never thinks about all the behind the scenes people and equipment that make a show possible. THIS was a great look, with so much insight captured. This will be a special video for a lot of fans, so thank you for sharing !
Great piece on the legendary Dick Siebert aka " The Chief " who established and built Minnesota Gopher Baseball's great winning history and tradition! Go Gophers!
In November 1974 I was five years old. I remember sitting with my Dad who always watched NBC Nightly News with John Chancellor. Then he watched Eyewitness News. I remember Stan Turner anchoring then being replaced by Ron Magers. Dad usually turned off the tv when weather came on. He probably wanted to get dinner ready. Mom worked the evening shift as a nurse. Dad taught high school snd had to deal with the kids at night. I remember hearing about Barry Zevan. I always thought Magers and him were in air together longer. Magers arrived in February 1974. They were only together some nine months! I was surprised Barry is dressed casual. Back then everyone wore a suit and tie. He was a great weatherman who made a big impact in only three years at KSTP. I wish Barry had stayed longer!
something I never thought about until now was the stage hands needed to wrangle the triax from the Ikegami 381 cameras. And those camera operators make it look easy, but those jokers and the pedestals are heavy. it' take a lot to get them going and stopping them like that.
