A cut, fuzzy doodle-dog is not a toy. Although Riley wanted to meet the “stranger”, he did DEFINITELY not wish to be embraced (watch the video again!) In fact, even you know a dig well, most prefer NOT to be hugged.

I just started giving my cat injections. Some of this is rather unrealistic. Cats generally eat at their own pace. There is really no way you can guarantee a cat is going to eat a "full meal" right before an injection. And calling your vet office every single the cat doesn't eat a full meal? You must be joking. Can barely get a vet to respond for an emergency let alone something like that. Also, you really need a docile cat to do injections. I have 3, and luckily the one who needs them is very docile but I'd never be able to do this with my other 2.

You girls are GORGEOUS and nice. You can get a dog or a MAN to do anything! :) My rescue dog won't eat cheese, ice cream, peanut butter, pill pockets, or any other sort of food inducement I've tried. He eats ONLY rice and chicken CHUNKS, so NO mixing the pill in with his regular food. Those pill shooters DO NOT WORK as exhibited!!!! Easy enough to lOAD a pill, however, when the plunger is DEPRESSED, nothing happens! The pills DO NOT MOVE. I've suggested those be pulled from the market as being fraudulent. For the moment, I'm crushing his Doxycycline pills, mixing in a tiny amount of water, sucking that up into an "eye dropper" used for dispensing liquid meds to babies/toddlers, prying open his mouth, shooting squirts of this down, until its all gone. There has GOT to be something that REALLY WORKS for ALL DOGS.

I used to use to these tricks to give my dog her tablets, then I started giving her favourite treat of a biscuit after stuffing a tablet into the back of her mouth as shown first in this video, it didn't take her long (less than a week) to realise what was going on and then she would very willingly quickly swallow her tablet when presented to her on my palm so that she could get her treat more quickly.

I suppose this can be done with an ampule of normal saline and a syringe. I have the Bat Lady in mind. Bat 🦇 Lady usually gives glucose and normal saline though. The Bats are usually dehydrated and in shock. Sugar apparently helps calm a shocked brain.

Try these pill pockets--they seem to work well: liverwurst, marshmallow, and cheese. Be aware that liquids aren’t all that easy either, and the volume that would be needed for large dogs would be absurd. We hope that helps. There is no "easy" with getting some dogs to swallow pills.

I'd love it if someone would create a video helping us give a pill to a dog in the real world where it is never ever this easy. These kinds of videos drive me crazy because it's never this easy. I also wish all vets just give liquid medications all the time. Because in the real world, pills are almost impossible.

@UnionLakeVeterinary
@UnionLakeVeterinary 11 месяцев назад
Brandy, I can't give medical advice, but I do know that not giving the shots does more harm to your cat than giving them. The needle is so thin and you're giving them in a place that won't really hurt. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. With the food, can you try pouring tuna juice or something similar over it? If that doesn't work, reach out to your veterinarian.

PLEASE please make sure your cat eats before giving the insulin injection at least a couple of ounces most small cans of cat food are 2 and one half ozs each for comparison. Please also get your cat on low carb wet canned food Tiki After dark chicken in broth is a really good low carb canned food and also Weruva canned foods their BFF line of canned foods are good Weruva wet food has classics and many differant canned foods to try dry food is NOT good for diabetic cats way too high in carbs and please make sure you are giving the insulin as your vet prescribed or your cat will not survive i am trying to say that in as nice a way as possible...you also need to check his/her Blood Glucose BEFORE every insulin injection it is normally done from the ear yhere is a vein you can see around the outer part of the ear when you shine a flashlight through his/ her ear please do that and practice before you are ready to test His Blood Glucose none of this is hard it takes me longer to type this as it does to do the steps described get him.to eat test the blood Glucose and inject the insulin this is done every 12 hours or as your vet prescribes You MUST use U100 syringes with U100 Insulin and U40 syringes with U40 insulin.. There are tutorials on U Tube to show you how to test Blood Glucose you need a Blood Glucose test meter test strips and small blue lancets i just use the lancets with out the lancet device much easier ask your vet if your vet is not helpful... most are...find another vet ...before you dump the old one...also your vet should SHOW you how to do all the above as many times as necessary until you are comfortable with the procedure and answer any and all questions you have Any vet that tells you you do not have to do a Blood Glucose test before each Insulin Injection is NOT giving you good or correct information or advice Again ALWAYs make sure your furbabie eats at least a couple of ounces of canned cat food BEFORE injecting insulin this gives the insulin something to work on Giving a small treat afterward always helps to get your furbabie comfortable with the above just a little bite of chicken can make it more pleasant for him and you my babie sits and waits for me to do the Blood Glucose After He Eats then waits while i go into the kitchen and draw his insulin and come back to inject making sure the dose is correct in the syringe before injecting the insulin I only started this a few monthes ago i was terrified of doing something wrong and hurting my babie...we got through it the fear was actually the worst part You can do this it gets so much easier with time it takes me between 10 and 15 minutes twice a day You Got This do it for your furbabie...he needs you to do this to save his life💝

Here in the UK, there is a meat extract paste used for making beef drinks, called Bovril, similar in appearance to Marmite or Vegemite, but a little bit runnier. We cut a dog strip treat into squares, and then pick up the dog's pill with tweezers, dunk it completely in the bovril paste, then place it on the treat. Our labrador dog Penny will happily eat this. Prior to this we tried several other ways of disguising the tablets but all these attempts were unsuccessful. Hope this helps.

All of the dogs were very much approachable, but at different paces. Dog number 1 was easy mode, I would say dog number 2 would have calmed down almost straight away after a bit of time. Dog number 3 seems like she has lost trust with people in the past and likely will be the more difficult dog to approach. Reminds me of my past Belgian shepherd, We got as a rescue, we know she was beaten by a guy who wore a hat before we got her. She hated anyone who wore a hat.

I have an adopted cat who hates shoes. Like if your wearing shoes he will run away and if he sees you putting them on he watches you intently. We know he was abused in some way as he had to have his leg remove due to a gunshot wound but this thing with shoes makes me wonder.
