Matt Bailey on defense is a huge factor on defense. And if Franklin and Bryant and another receiver get going this team will be dangerous. Running game and the 3 backs will stay consistent
I was impressed with this team!!!! Offensively and defensively and special teams! Yes I know it was Eastern but dam we looked good!!!! WE ARE BEATING KANSAS!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Altmeyer has such a long throwing motion. Comes out slow. Arm is good but I don't see him doing well with good defenses. Illinois will have to run alot. Illinois couldn't get a thrower from the portal? Hard to imagine being that they are in the Big Ten
Mike White used to say that in practice you have to run the ball a lot or the line will not be "tough." I expected a lot of running anyway, but I can see Brett have a run heavy practice to keep passing game hidden. I'm expecting 50/50 (abt) to 60-40 run-pass because he always says you want to be balanced run/pass and because historically he has been run heavy. i'ld be utterly shocked if we were used more than 50% passing. The first game will be run run run imo. WHy? Why waste your pass plays on EIU. Kansas will be the game that we find out the run-pass regime.
Finally some reporters that actually do their homework! Had this kid laughing! Can’t wait to see him become a leader on this D-Line! Best of luck to the whole team
PSU should have gotten at least a partial title in 1995 , they were screwed. The NCAA stripping wins and titles after the fact is stupid . Those 90s OSU teams were as loaded as the current ones.
I hope coach is saying he needs most of what is on that team to keep this thing going and become better picks which all of them now could do. We will see but I can hope
You can trust Mike. He used that video to add the 3-2 to his AAU teams options for defense. The key is to always make sure the ball is pressured hard. If you take the skip pass away, this is a really good defense. And we can always tease Brad Underwood for creating the 3-2 movement!
I think what they are doing is ahead of the curve. I believe the future will be two super conferences: the Big Ten and the SEC, which could end up leaving the NCAA. Illinois is positioning themselves in the top 15 Nationally in a stepping stone to the NBA. Currently there are less than five players on NBA rosters from Illinois. In two years that will double. Getting players to the next level is the key to recruiting. Illinois is looking good.
Versatility is the calling for this team. I just want to see what the offense looks like with the combo of booty ball, pick and roll, and improved shooting. I do think Morez, DGL, Ty, and Tre White carve out roles as defenders. I think Booth can be that, too, but his time seems to tied to how quickly he can make gains with Fletch before the season starts. Ultimately, I think Ben H is the X factor on offense being able to shoot and being able to be the pick and roll handler or roller. Morez and DGL are probably the X factors on D.
Derek Harper was the first Illini player (I think) to ever dribble the ball between his legs in a game at old Assembly Hall... I was there... the crowd went wild.... Lou wan't particularly happy about it tho.... lol...
