This is actual activism! <3 Second, I have to be honest, the premise of the book sounds amazing. Someone who has passed wrote a play, and then somehow doing the play affects the real world, and whatever you say happens - there is so much you can do with this! And the world building could be nuanced and deep. I mean, this is the definition of wasted opportunity. Third, regarding what kind of witch I would be. So, I thought about it and I think I would rather serve a witch. Like, I want to be a fairy in the witch's workshop, I want to be behind the scenes bringing potion ingredients from the cellar for her, I want to wake up early in the morning, clean and prepare her house, and then when she wakes up, it is all ready and she can go about her day. I think that would be awesome. It's a noble profession, witch's assistant. I want to be that. p.s.: tell me where to send my CV

The “trick of the light” thing made sense to me as a parent. When something unexplainable or horrific happens, you just make something up to calm yourself down and your kids down. Even if it doesn’t make sense, or especially BECAUSE nothing makes sense. My son used to tell me a solid white man with no face would crawl on the ceiling at night when he was staying with his grandma. You never want to scare your kids more, or make a situation worse. So to avoid all out panic, parents say stupid stuff to stay sane lol. In my case I told him it was probably a pattern or shadow on the ceiling… I knew that was absurdly ignorant to say, but in the absence of logic… it happens lol. And as far as it being “white washed and not diverse”, that’s a terrible way to judge a book. I could agree with that if you had read several of the books and the author just stuck with that ideology… but to complain about that having read none of the other books lol We of course need so much more diversity, as historically teen books (especially early RL Stein) didn’t do a god job with that… But that doesn’t mean no one should write about plain vanilla, middle class white families LOL That puts another generation in danger of having that culture scrubbed from YA books. So yeah we need a lot LESS of that, but that demographic still exists lol These books (from what I understand) are reprints of old books during the RL Stein era. So it makes sense that diversity wasn’t crammed into the YA easy reads. I’m glad we are seeing more diversity for sure though. It just wasn’t a “thing” back then.
Oh, I totally understand a trick of the light and keeping kids calm, but sound is not light as far as I am aware 😅 I am so glad you know what you value in a book~ The beauty of humanity is our variance in values/preferences and the ability to share those different experiences with others around the world 🥰 Thank you for sharing your perspective~
Some great food centered books that I have read are Julie & Julia, Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu, Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, Kitchen Princess, Chocolat, and Legends & Lattes. Books I still need to read are The Candymakers, A Dash of Trouble (Love Sugar Magic Series), Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors, Sourdough: Or, Lois and Her Adventures in the Underground Market, Accidentally Engaged, A Pho Love Story, The Kitchen Front, Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake, Tweet Cute, The Recipe Club, Natalie Tan's Book of Luck & Fortune, Our Dining Table, and Before the Coffee Gets Cold.
So, seven things. First, the meditating frog is amazing! Does she do yoga too? Is she a frog monk? There are many questions! Second, it took me a while to notice that the candles are not real. Correction: the candles are real, they are just hollow and probably made out of plastic! A totally legit kind of candle, but produces an unusual flame that's cold and solid and also made out of plastic. Third, fascinating insight about not wanting to ruin a professionally looking planner. I wonder if you would feel differently if you made one for a friend and a friend made one for you. Fourth, the reason I talked about candles in the second bullet point was because there are exactly two candles on the desk. Fifth, the tarot cards on the side are such an amazing touch to the frame! The way the whole desk is decorated is exquisite. And, by the way, this had to be bullet point five, because there are exactly five tarot cards. Six, you should make a video about living in the desert. What is your relationship with it? Are there any secrets you know about it? We want answers! Seven, there are exactly eight pens on the desk, but I felt that eight bullet points would be too much. p.s.: at 1:25 a mysterious object appears to your right. The viewer can only see its shadow. Later it even more mysteriously disappears. What was it? We might never know...
😂 my dear Louigi, you never fail to leave the most thoughtful comments; I appreciate you~ The frog is a monk of the highest ordering frog society, their spirituality is based on froghood and I strive to be as froggy as I can every day in honor of it. It does do yoga, but mostly meditation. The candle is actually hollow but still wax on the outside with the fake bobbing wicks. Way better for the lungs than flames! I just find with my specific flavor of neurospicy simple and not professional is best for productivity in regards to my planner. My BuJo's are still very artsy fartsy 😂 Glad you like the desk set up! In terms of the desert, I've been here my entire life and I despise it. I am a mountain/snow bunny. I belong in the cold at high elevation, surrounded by trees and far from civilization. But alas, the stars had a different fate in mind for me, so I make it work 😁 I definitely have some tricks and desert tips, like the best chapsticks and hydration methods 😅

My character is half human, and half dwarf from the Island of Daerune. Her name is Daremmegar, or Megar for short. Megar currently lives on Darkmeadow in order to access the Library. Like you, she is also In the Archivist Guild. Her career/calling for this year (2024) is the new one of Excavationist. But maybe next year I will try Storyweaver. PS My child is not a toddler. He is now 6 feet tall!! LOL

Becca Fanning - Baby Shifts of America - 50 Books - one book for each state - Shifters are different animals - cougar, wolf, coyote, tiger etc Christy Rivers - Yellowstone Mates - bear shifters - set in Yellowstone - at least 4 books in series - I read all 4 books and really enjoyed them all.
Just wanted to mention that it's not actually possible to be a master at any calling yet. Everybody that has done the two years (so four semesters) should be an apprentice. So you could totally continue with scribe
@@scoutthepages You are correct. I have the first documents (when I created my character) saved to my hard drive and they are dated as March and April 2021 So we have done 6 semesters (3 years) so far and 2024 should be the 4th year and final year.

This spring I am hoping to read Flowerheart, Witchlings, The Final Empire, Foxglove, Strange the Dreamer, Powerless, The Serpent and the Wings of Night, A Dawn of Onyx, Amari and the Great Game, re-reading Percy Jackson series to continue the series, and finishing The Mortal Instrument series.
I read elantris this year only and it was a fun book. Definitely after reading stormlight this is not his greatest book but I am excited for elantris 2 and 3 which he said will come later this decade!
Elantris is one of my favorite books but only for two of the POV's. On my second read, Wrathe, or whatever his name is, I skipped most of his chapters until act 3. I almost purchased the Graphic Audio version, I've got the Audible version. Jack Garrett does an amazing job at narration. let us know if they do a good job with the sound quality, I don't like it when the sounds and music are too loud and I can't hear the characters or narrator.
Some good reads from last month. I read The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Basil and Oregano last year. I just borrowed Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson from the library cause I felt like I needed more romance for this month. My favorite read from last month was A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating A Demon and Heartstopper Volume 5.
