When I worked in Ballymeny at Wrightbus company (2005-2006) I was visiting High Kirk Presbyterian Church often. It was the best part of my life! Kind people, great experience. One day I would like to visit all my friends in Ballymena. I miss you all!

I live in Melbourne Australia and I am so glad I can listen to sermon from my church High Kirk. My father now 87 years old never missed a Sunday. Now with technology he can still listen to the message. My father is Harold Smyth the longest serving Elder.

Christianity comes in two extremes. One side overemphases the 'Spirit', at the expense of 'word', the other overemphases 'Word' at the expense of 'The Spirit'!

Our RU-vid videos are primarily intended for those who can't get out to church, and are not advertised in any way outside of our own church community. Having said that, we do welcome everyone who wishes to watch them and hope that they are useful - please feel free to share them with anyone who may find them helpful.

@@HighKirkChurch Thank you for your response to me. I use a RU-vid name to have some privacy online. I'm originally from Northern Ireland, but now live in mainland U.K. I'm very interested in evangelical preaching in general and Churches in Northern Ireland in particular. I have a friend who attends your couch, so hence my further interest. I have not heard this weeks sermon at time of posting to you.

God does hate, He hates sin so much so at times it must be preached against. Usually when we talk about 'love' it can imply acceptance of any behaviour, hence things can get swept under the carpet so to speak, and nothing gets dealt with properly.

At around point 38:38. it is stated: '...Jesus died so that we would change the world...' This statement is false. CORRECTION: Jesus died for the sin of mankind both men and women. His death meant that everyone who repented of their sins would have eternal life See John 3. There is no scripture that declares that the church will 'change the world', absolutely none! At 39:20 '...there is something of God in everyone....' What do you mean by this? Yes, we are created in the image of God but sin has marred this image. Some preach that we 'are little gods of the God kind', but this is rank heresy. I'm having problems with this teaching from a biblical perspective? Sir there is indeed hope for every individual in that they come to Christ knowing that they are lost and on their way to hell, and in knowing that fact they avail themselves of the finished work of Christ upon the cross of Calvary, that my friend is where the hope is and in nothing else as far as their soul is concerned. See Luke 16, the rich man and Lazarus. Mother Teresa lost her so called faith towards the end of her life, she could have taken as many more so called risks, but she is in hell today because she denied Christ and his offer of mercy to her. It is well documented that this is indeed the case. 'Not of works, lest any man should boast' or indeed woman! Ephesians 2:9.

Hi - thanks for watching, and for your comments. I think the statement needs to be taken in context - it is intended to contrast with the previous statements - "Jesus didn't die so we would come to church". I'm sure you'd agree that a sermon is more than someone simply reading scripture - it is interpretation of scripture. Unless sermons are simply someone quoting verse after verse of scripture, then inevitably all sermons will contain statements which are not scriptural "declarations". In considering the content of a sermon, the important question to ask then, is not "is there a verse which (literally) says this" - rather it is "is what the speaker says consistent with scripture"? Of course you are right in what you say about the reason for Jesus death, but people who repent and have eternal life also have a mission - Jesus instructed the disciples to go and make disciples of every nation - personally I think that's fairly "world changing". The point being made by the speaker was that as Christians, we ought to make a difference in the world - wouldn't you agree that if all Christians were obedient to Jesus commands, that we would indeed "change the world"?

I very much like the presentation here and the quality the the video and sound. I have heard of this church through a friend who lives in Ballymena. I was born in N.I., but have lived in England for many years now. Glad to see a fellowship that is moving in the things of the Spirit. I hope I'll be able to find Pt 2 of this conference. Also I plan to come back to your channel to hear more from you.
