The best version of Gatsby I have seen is from a professional Italian dance troupe that made it into a dance show that uses a wide range of popular songs to portray the story. There was barely any dialogue but they perfectly transported the story.
As an theatre educator, I LOVE YOUR videos!!!! They are such an amazing resource in my classroom. I will do whatever I can to help, I mean, I am on a teachers salary. But I just wanted to thank you so much for your videos!
The big piece that B&B were missing was that fanfic cannot make money. Netflix were very chill about the whole thing but B&B kept pushing limits. They weren’t just stealing from Netflix, they were stealing from Julia Quinn. They thought because they were just the little guys, no one would stop them, and they took advantage of Netflix’s generous allowances. And they played the “little guy” card to avoid taking accountability. It made me lose a lot of respect for them.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 it gets fully FULLY funded! Not only just because that would be great but I have been obsessed with Tanz Der Vampire/Dance of the Vampires for years and it's last in the slate! 🧛🏻♂️
After hearing the shows goal was to be a crowd pleasing spectacle, I can respect that. I think it succeeded in that area, and if that's what they were trying to do, great. If you think it misses the point of the original book, that doesn't matter, because the original book still exists and you can read it whenever you want. This is a different interpretation, and it's allowed to exist in whatever form it wants to. And for what it is, I think it's very well made.
I discovered this video in 2021, long after Beetlejuice left Broadway. I found a low quality bootleg and listened to the soundtrack on repeat and fell in love. I was so distraught that I never even knew of its existence until after it was already gone. Then in 2022 Beetlejuice returned to Broadway and it lined up perfectly with an event I was going to in September in New Jersey, and I was able to snag some tickets and finally see it live. And today i’ll be seeing the touring cast, my third viewing of Beetlejuice :] I’m very grateful for this video.
@@gafee2001 yippee! the touring cast is pretty great; there are some minor changes due to the show not being performed at 1 single theatre but they work well I think. I hope you’re able to catch it!
A flop is when they take a perfectly normal and good musical that everyone love and do some " reimagining" with some " Minimalistic" set design. Yes, we're looking at you Shrek
I was first exposed to this show by hearing the soundtrack which I fell in love with. I was able to see a touring production of it and I could see some pacing problems, but the glorious score just has to be one of the best.
Oof, ngl the vibe changed for me when you said they took the famous line from a gay character describing how he can never be with the man he loves........... and gave it to the conventional-in-all-ways Daphne. It's not as if the story even creates that same narrative between her and Simon for being an interracial couple. That comes off pretty tone-deaf
Could I suggest also the musicals Dance A Little Closer and It's A Bird... It's A Plane... It's Superman? I think they could be really interesting video topics.
