Wow. Thanks for this. Super informative! That throttle response is hilarious!!! 😂😂 yep, because rotrex is always on boost all the system has to do is close the gate and you have max flow at that rpm.
Sweet build, but advice, are you sure you should be adding permatex to the oil pump? If it squeezes inside, dries, and breaks free it is going to plug a journal or bearing oil feed somewhere. I have a Ford modular and there is no gasket material there. Metal on metal. Let the oil pump and regulator do the work, even if there is a tiny leak it will be fine.
I saw that little NC hint and you said you were looking into another project. My NC was my first car but I sold it after hitting a moose. I’ve regretted it ever since. I’d love to see you build an NC. 2.5 swap short stroke or boosted setup would be awesome to see.
Just wondering what would be the positives of adding water/meth injection to this setup. Better for the stock motor/higher power level with stock pulley ratio/ability to run the system without an intercooler. Although the lack of lag kind of bypasses this issue altogether.
You could squeeze another 20-30whp out of the setup with water/meth just like you could with E85, but the stock engine is still limited to a certain amount of torque regardless of fuel type/time safety. And yeah there's really no reason to lose the IC, the setup responds as if it's N/A already
You are a GODSEND brother i think i bought an na eunos because i saw your chanel man Not the other way around And im going to check my timing as my engine seems a little laggy Was told it was rebuilt sooo could be a little out Im looking forward to finding more power and smoother running Luv ya mate!!!!! Your a LEGEND
I would suggest you get a traditional hard drive for archiving and storing large amounts of data. SSD wear out, they can only write so many times. You can get an external drive if you want flexibility to connect to it with your laptop. I bought a 14tb drive for about $200 recently.
Currently looking at going rotrex kit in the next couple months from tdr. What type of quartermile times did this kit give you in comparison to stock acceleration?
I don't have 1/4 mile data but I did 1/8 mile testing - With just a couple bolt-ons it did 10.0 @ 69mph, with this Rotrex setup it did 8.5 @ 84mph. 0-60 dropped from 7.3 down to 5.1, and I had to go to 3rd to hit 60 since the gears are very short. I have a whole video about these performance tests on my channel, posted just after this one
i know this is one of your old videos but ive been watching this particular vid religiously on VVT swapping my 93 Miata. so maybe you can give me a direct answer on this question: where would hard wire the VVT signal wire to megasquirt? i have a MS2Pro. someone told me it should be wired into the the option port. so i followed up on the pin map for that port and its not very clear where it should go. thank you for any help that you can provide!!
You described compound turbos backwards. The big turbo feeds the small turbo, not the other way around. You said it in reverse, and you also said "that bigger turbo taking air that's already pressurized and ramping it up more." The bigger turbo (usually sized to roughly double the maximum airflow) draws in atmospheric pressure, then the small turbo draws in the charge from the big turbo and pressurizes it further. I'm nitpicking, I know, but it's going to bother me if I leave it uncorrected 😅 It actually works out pretty handily, because often you'll be using something like a low pressure turbo with a 3" outlet feeding a high pressure turbo with a 3" inlet, in which case you don't even need to neck the charge pipe up or down.
Ah yeah I had it backwards. The exhaust from the head feeds directly into the small turbo and then flows through the big one, but the big turbo actually gets the fresh air and feeds it to the small one, yeah?
1:50 in, I'm gonna predict 10hp from headers and exhaust. Edit: Only 6? Weird. I know of a company in Germany that does JUST exhaust conversions that gain 10. Maybe with some more tuning...? Maybe the exhaust is slightly too large in diameter?
Wait: is you the “muchpsi” dude I watched years ago??? Bro we met in La I had the white na with an fm2 kit on it (which 10 year ago was rare) Good to see you’re doing well bro!
Baller video dude, thanks. Only needed to raise my base idle on stock ecu on my 2000 NB. When I shorted the TEN to GRD with a paper clip it killed the engine, so that was weird. But the screwdriver lowering the idle fixed my rough idle.
Revisiting a classic, been looking at EFR's and was wondering if you went with a Iron or Aluminum CHRA, as the 6758 and 6258 both come as either. Thanks
Not gonna lie Greg, it's really sad to see that I have to search your channel despite being subscribed to see your new videos. I was wondering just now if you were still around making videos..... Thanks RU-vid....
Just got an NA6 miata with the GF. You're gonna get at least a dozen views from me trying to rebuild it! A good ol' sunburst yellow with 170k miles. Thanks in advance for the help Papa Miata!
