My Mother stupidly bought a pack and of course they do not work. If this is happening to us then I am sure it is widespread. Someone with an account on Amazon needs to report it to Amazon.
does anyone get the broken/shaved pieces of ice in the shute? I just ordered a new ice tray, some aluminum tape and the y clips... samsung already came to my house and replaced the main ice maker but did not fix my issue... whenever someone gets ice, it leaves ice in the schute and when someone gets ice again later, little bit of water comes out cause the ice has melted in the schute
BTW - This should be watched by ANYONE buying a Samsung. With my next new one, I'm applying the metal tape BEFORE it's even plugged in! No better time to do it than on delivery day. Maybe we can teach the installers exactly what they should be doing as part of the install/setup!
Coming back to thank the GURU!!!! I have lots of stories having owned 5 Samsung refrigerators, fought this ice maker issue on every one I've had. I'm at 6 weeks in having used the metal tape repair method and ice maker is running LIKE NEW. Other steps I did were putting the round foam insulation under/around the shoot seal lip to tighten the grip between it and the ice maker and adjust my water tube down a tiny bit (thanks for the mirror trick!). No problems after weeks now, I have not even had to pull the ice maker out since. If it ain't broke, don't fix it - true forever! THANKS AGAIN MY FRIEND!
Have you seen any issues with the pitcher over filling? Mine just started doing this and of course the warranty recently expired. I cant seem to find examples of anyone else having this issue.
My 8 year old LG fridge icemaker started doing this in the last year, and the ice maker looks very similar. I am guessing this repair would also apply?
Thank you, this is the only one I seen that shows the bottom drain line, all the others show the upper evap area and cleaning the ice and unthawing. didn;t work for my 2006 Samsung unit. Your video is awesome and thorough, it took me 2 hrs. to do the upper and 15 min. to do the lower that you explain. GOOD JOB SIR
Appliance Guru, Thank you. Ill fix it myself next time. My fridge is still under warrenty. After Having the freezing up thing happen it stopped making ice.. I just thawed out the maker itself and it started working again. It stopped making ice altogether but i thawed it out and removed just the ice building up in the back like where you pointed out here and its now working. This video here is if it completly freezes up? And still works? If the motor/fan part itself stops working altogether id have to buy a new ice maker? This is awesome Liked and subscribed! Great info. I love channels like yours. Love people like you DIY❤
Seriously thank you!! I've been so frustrated until I watched your video! Your assessment was correct, calcium build up on water nozzle. I cleaned it up with vinegar and we are all good!!
My fridge is 7 months old and already having this issue. The service guy says he is going to have to replace the assembly. This is too common a problem and needs to be addressed by samsung. If they don't then i can easily say will never buy a samsung appliance ever again.
i have RF24uk model with E39 and E40 errors which points to an icemaker error can you give any tips thanks , the icemaker does work but will freeze up every couple of months - recently the fridge section is getting to cold it is set for 5
Hey there. Thank you for sharing this video for all of us. Question for you: My wife mentioned today that our Samsung fridge was making a weird noise. Upon further inspection it was in the area of the ice maker. I took the cube tray out and noticed two large cracks in it. My question is: I heard you say in the video that "if the cube box was cracked to replace it", I am wondering what would cause it to crack? Was the cause of the crack the warm air coming in around the ice making apparatus itself which you fixed with the HVAC tape? Let me know please. Thanks
New to this. I'd happily add a donation (where exactly?) for your advice. My LG's ice maker water dispenser in the upper right seems to have More serious issues than calcium. I took a couple pictures. Can I upload somehow. ?
I had the same issue, model number rf29a9671sr/aa. What I did to fix mine was add a small, stronger ring magnet on top of the pitcher lid. It seemed like the magnet in the lid had weakened and was no longer working with the resistor in the door
We do not have ours hooked up to a water line. 1) how hard is it to hook up to a water line? 2) If we keep it waterless, I'm guessing this repair will help overall function of the frig since the freon line is in there. 3) if we cannot hook up a water line, can we make ice and put it in there to dispense after the repair?
Fantastic video!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. I did this fix over a month ago and everything is now working properly. Its people like you that make life for the rest of us so much more bearable. Again, Thank you!
Just discovered this fix and was curious, will I be able to make the fixes while the fridge is still plugged in and operating? Or will we have to empty it out and let it thaw? Thanks 👍
Great training. I just finished this repair. It is fairly simple as long as you have a phillips screwdriver, hair dryer, and tin foil tape. I will report back if it fixes my icing problem. Thank you!
