Verlaine was virulently anti-drugs, which means he played (improvised, really) that mind-bending 15-minute version of "Little Johnny Jewel"... sober. It's insanely good, and this entire bootleg testifies to the fact that when this band was on, they were ON, unlike anyone else and just fantastically exciting. They put the ELECTRIC in electric guitars.
