I was fortunate to grow up in St Louis Mo where Mickey Carrol was from. He returned to the city to run his family's monument business but was always involved in many projects in the area. I had the pleasure of meeting him in a parade in the 1980's. He was so kind & talked to me for a long time. I had my picture taken with him. Everybody in St Louis loved this man.
No mention of the scandal and some of the muchkins groping the poor young girl. No mention of the ones that got arrested repeatedly between scenes, hence them have a seperate security team to keep the bad ones in order. What the film makers let happen to Judy is unforgivable.
@MaskedMan66 hhmmm. That's the sort of reply I'd expect from the cowardly lion. You're obviously not so much a puppet, but more a muppet. I'm sure chewy would think in a similar way 🤔
@@andyl5297 Personal remarks liked by the person who made them have zero bearing on the truth of this movie, which is there to be read in the books "The Making of The Wizard of Oz" (1977) by Aljean Harmetz with an introduction by Margaret Hamilton, "The Wizard of Oz: The Official 50th Anniversary Pictorial History" (1989) by John Fricke, Jay Scarfone, and William Stillman with an introduction by Jack Haley, Jr., and "The Road to Oz: The Evolution, Creation, and Legacy of a Motion Picture Masterpiece" (2019) by Scarfone and Stillman. Other books which contain useful bits of information include "”Down the Yellow Brick Road” (1976) by Doug McClelland, “The Oz Scrapbook" (1977) by David L. Greene and Dick
@MaskedMan66 you're definitely missing some research out. I read it in articles years ago. Also a TV documentary some time ago. I'm sure it'll be on hear. Just wizard of Oz scandal. I'm sure you'll find it. It's really sad to watch really. I still love the film though. Always have.
@@andyl5297 The books I listed are the most complete and reliable sources in the world, largely because they relate the experiences told to the authors by the movie's personnel themselves. Any articles or "documentaries" which cater to the scandal-mongering mind are not to be trusted.
That's fake...theres a youtuber named ALC Media, he made a video called "The Plague of Yellows Journalism, analysing the wizard of oz horror myths" and he shows exactly how those myths have been faked
You don't actually believe that the munchkins did all of those things in public, in front of all the cast and crew, and no one mentions is for decades until Sid Luft (who was known for being a cheat and a lair) made up stories about events that he wasn't there for
You heard wrong. The thirty Austrian men and women who were the original Singer Midgets were professionals. The 94 American men, women, and teenagers who filled up the ranks were ordinary everyday people who were just gobsmacked to be in a big movie, and the last thing on their minds would have been mistreating the star.
I'm 69 years old now.I watched The Wizard of Oz back in the late 1950s and the 60s. And every time I watched it it always felt like it was the first time I ever seen it. This movie was shown around Christmas time every year.
