I purchased one of these a couple of months ago through amazon, Looks like the exact same doggy door. That rubber "gasket" thing, while a great concept, was absolutely useless. Even after clearing the entire surface with alcohol before sticking it on, withing a couple of hours I walked back into the room to find half of it laying on the floor. It had started to just peel off under its own weight. So after a couple of times reapplying it, and having it fall right back off within the hour, I simply went on Amazon and purchased another rubber strip, almost identical to the one the doggy door came with, but the aftermarket one was a bit thicker, obviously MUCH MUCH MUCH better quality, and had a much better adhesive strip. However, I wasn't going to chance it this time, so I also purchased a little 4oz bottle of 3M Adhesion Promoter. You simply paint it on to whatever surface you're sticking something to with a brush, paper towel, sponge, or whatever else you have to just wipe a thin layer on. Just apply a thin layer of the 3M stuff along the entire length of where you'll be sticking the adhesive strip of the rubber gasket (or anything else you want to tape onto something else). After I allowed the adhesion promoter to dry for a couple of minutes, I CAREFULLY stuck that gasket strip along the back edge of my sliding door and voilà, that strip isn't coming off unless I and a couple of strong buddies pull it off, and even then I'm quite certain the rubber strip will fail before the adhesion does. The reason I said I "CAREFULLY" stuck the gasket strip on, is because you'd better be darn sure wherever you touch it, is where you want it, because ones it couches that surface, it's stuck, and you're not going to get a second chance. This 3M adhesion stuff is like magic, and forms a brutally strong bond. Wish I could post links and pictures here. It was so very worth the extra Just go on Amazon, or wherever, and search "3M Adhesion Promoter 111, Clear, 250 mL Bottle" for the adhesion promoter, and for the better quality door sweep, (aka: gasket) just search "TORRAMI Silicone Door Sweep Draft Stopper 2 inch Width" No, I'm not associated with any of these companies. I'm merely passing along what worked for me, and it truly did work like a charm. Keep in mind, when you install one of these doggy doors, you also lose your ability to latch your sliding door, so I also made a couple of other upgrades , as I mounted mine a little more permanently. I mounted a couple of latches to make the door more secure. One is to make it so you can't just walk up and open the sliding door from the outside, and the other so you couldn't even pry it open with a crown bar, for securing it at night. Here are the latches I installed. For night time security I used the "Pro-Lok Entry Armor EPL-106-W Patio Door Lock- Keyed Lg Rectangle" And for daytime use, I used "QCAA Cam-Action Windows Sash Lock & Keeper" All together, with the new door sweep gasket, the 3M stuff, and the door latches, I think I spent around an additional $80, but it's pretty secure now. Someone would really have to go to quite a bit of trouble to break in, and I have a security camera point at that door anyway, so there's that as well.

The real question is how do you seal the gap between the glass door an the insert? I’ve done weather stripping and can’t stop brushing it with my shoulders and pulling it off.
I can't say it's a real solution or that it is pleasing to the eye, but it does seem to address a need. I can't think of anything more effective but, as a start, maybe something round like pipe insulation? But that may be too rigid and mess with the gap between the glass doors. Either way, it's an ugly look.
I had this same doggie door and disliked so much, where I live it gets really hot in summer and cold in winter,always had a big draft, tried every hack nothing worked finally saved my coins and bought an in slider doggie door so much better and I can fully open my slider again I highly recommend it.
Such a shame,Texas Stadium was such a nice stadium.Brought the Cowboys luck for decades.They NEVER won a Super Bowl before this stadium,and will never afterwards
Really sorry for your friend and his family. I wish I had known him, he seems like a great guy and a good friend. I really liked the video tribute and I bet he would too- especially the ending
