The Tour Glide like a Road Glide has the front fairing mounted to the frame as opposed to an Electra Glide or an Ultra where it’s mounted to the front forks. That’s kinda the claim to fame for the Road Glide. That said some people love them and some hate them.
I actually sold this bike about 6 months ago. But I believe it was lowered in the rear just by the shocks. The front actually wasn’t lowered, the fairing had just been modified and was mounted lower on the down tubes. It looks like when they lowered the fairing that they did it a tad to low because there’s was a crescent moon shape cut off the bottom so it would clear the front fender. The front fender was also modified and sat damn near on top of the tire. It had a slightly modified rake too but it rode very close to stock. The cat who did it knew what he was doing.
@@millertime2976 Oh well, that’s a bummer. I have a chopper I built and a DYNA And they are both never without some kind of problem. Ha ha. That’s the life of Harley Davidson. Thought about buying another gold wing like I had decades ago but can’t seem to get rid of the Harley’s. Lol
It’s a Mustang seat. It’s kinda hard, but formed very well to be comfortable. I’d recommend sitting on one before buying a Mustang seat, some people love them and some hate them.
I apologize for not firing it up. I took this video on my phone. I don’t have a tripod as it usually takes 2 hands on the throttle/starter and the choke.
I had a 1973 FLH. I wouldn't be sure you have a gasket leak. Mine had factory automatic oiler for both the primary and the final chain drive. The primary case is vented at the top rear. Oil will sling up there and get the swing arm damp with oil. I went to a primary belt so I plugged off both the oiler lines coming out of the oil pump. With the invention of o-ring chains the automatic oiler on the final drive is over kill.
Really nice bike! I'm working on my 86 tour glide right now. Do you know where i can find the headlights that you have on yours? Or anyone whos readind this 😅 dont like the seald beam lights
I believe but I’m not certain that the windshield on the bike was home made. But it was made for another more functional windshield to bolt to it. A Madstad. If you look close from the front or the back you may be able to see the 4 machine screws through the windshield that’s on there.
Nice Tour Glide, my brother has an extremely low production Tour Glide, its number 124 of 160 manufactured for the Liberty Model bikes and is pretty rare. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FEuQ1EMGL0Q.html This bike was on the ride for Liberty that went from LA to NYC in 1985.
Nice Bike! My brother has an extremely rare Tour Glide, it a Liberty Edition one and is #124 of only 160 made. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FEuQ1EMGL0Q.html
if you posted up what led bulbs were used would be help theres alot of choices now and the smd type is ugly but popular ..what bulbs for the dual headlight .im wondering if could be wires both on low and then both on high, mine is not.
I’ll check how the hi/low beams work. I definitely don’t know the brand of the bulbs as they were in there when I bought it, but I’ll see if I can find a brand on them.
It’s a Mustang seat. Not sure of the model. It was on the bike when I bought it. It’s a bit stiffer than I prefer but my wife nor myself had any complaints about it after a lot of time on it.
Thought I cought the Mustang logo in one of your panning shots. So I had a look at the website and they list one seat for my 81 FLT. But i do like how it looks! Thanks for replying!
Mine has a BDL dry primary so the drain plug is out and the Derby cover is spaced out for air flow. I started putting a plastic lid off a rattle can under the drain plug. I think only 2-3 drops come out of it, but you know how oil is, you could paint your house with a tablespoon's worth.
This bike looks great. Doesn't cost anything to put a drip pan under the bike. If you spend the time and money to replace the gasket it will eventually start leaking again. The previous owner removed the enclosed chain case on mine and unfortunately installed some sort of automatic chain oiler on mine so I have to put a drip pan under the front sprocket when I park it in the garage.
