I was in Tully (2 hours from Cairns) working in a bananas farm for my 2nd year visa and I will obviously remember this till I will die because i was in a bathroom with the owner trying to keep the back door closed with our feet while water was coming in from all over. After 20 minutes ish all the windows where broken in the house and the wind took down most of the power lines and yeah it was terrible, the house near the 1 I was leaving the roof was gone and noise of the wind it's just that i can't really even describe! In the folosit day the government give me 130$ to go to a big city there where free busses to Brisbane but I stayed for a couple of months helping the clean up effort! I was 23 years old at the time and the only victim was a 23 old man that died because he put in electric generator inside the house unfortunately, my mother thought was me and i couldn't contact her for 3-4 days so yup overall was a very bad event for all my family! I hope to be back in Tully 1 day because i do remember also obviously that even if this event happened i had the best time of my life in Australia!
