Expression through music, with the help of some killer gear, ... Tone tips along with some insight as to how it can always be improved. Pull up a seat and turn it up!
I really like it when the wah tone has a bit of "watery" quality to it, like that one does. I had a different brand of wah pedal which couldn't produce that "watery quack"!
I have the same model. On the chrome tail piece is 7261. In the cavity is a slip of paper and written with a pencil is “ Inspected by Gloria, (I don’t recall the month and day) 1954”. Someone on YT told me it was the legendary Gloria Fuentes.
Stevie was born less than a year before me. Much like SRV, I started playing guitar at very early age, for me age 10 in 1965. We had a lot of the same influences, so when Stevie hit the scene, his music was familiar to me. The secret is that for us guitar players in the late 60’s early 70’s, word got around that if you wanted to get into next level blues chords, you had to get the Mickey Baker Jazz Guitar Volume 1. The Lenny chords are major 6 straight from the Mickey Baker book. Riviera Paradise, Superstitious, Walking the Tightrope, he’s using chords from Mickey Baker. I played guitar in my school jazz band in the early 70’s and the Baker book was my bible. First time I heard Lenny, I could play it in five minutes. It’s just a Mickey Baker major 6 moving up and down.
@@theriffwniksevigny5473 really nice breakup to begin with, you musta rather dimed it? I have an old SR myself from 71 of course it depends on the tubes, and mine are not early breakup, but i’d have to REALLY push the volume get in that territory …
Nailed it thank you… That’s when I’m most happy, when I’m building and feeling my own thing based on what these guys did… I don’t hit my groove often, but I get in there that’s the best…
Tools chosen by the master? He used what was available at the time really if he was alive in this day and age I'm sure his arsenal would be much bigger and more complex
Mighty!...just dug out an old TS9, Sept '81 with JRC2043DD chip, gets some bad press, apparently this chip was in the animal Stevie used..most had the JRC4558D chip
I love this thank you. I'm gonna look through your channel for other pedal builds. This is great. Not sure why other people do not do more of this kind if thing
Interesting. But am I dumb as a tortoise when I ask why you cant achieve this simply by turning the pup round? Note that ye poles are reversed on greeny, but not in this vid. Interesting, nice playing
Hi Nik. I absolutely do not understand how you could get any negative comments! People who do that do not love themselves. I got sober almost two years ago so I know exactly where you are coming from . I am 55 yo and always wanted to play guitar and you inspire me. I accidentally came across your channel and love it. You are such a genuine and nice guy. Thank you and keep up the good work. You are an amazing player….
cool job! thanks for sharing your view! I've been using PV59 on both guitars (old 62 and 54reissues japan) I love them, the difference is more on the guitars..but they're close enough to replace one with the other mid set on a live blues session.
I just did this on my Jay Turser JT-220D. It took about 15 min or less. The pick-ups covers are not soldered, no wax. I just had to lift the magnet and flip it. Crummy [pick-up but it works. I love that sound.
Hey man awesome video; I liked the one under $100, and came right here to see more. I am new to wah's, and I recently bought a jh-1 but I hear something strange: if I go slowly with the sweep, I find a point where the volume increases and there's a resonance, and as soon as I move the foot the volume drops and the functionality gorw back to standard. What's the issue there? Is it the pot as in this video? Thanks a ton 🙏
please tell me, does Stevie control the dynamics by compressing the pick, or does he squeeze it all the time with the same force and only hits the string with different force?
So what would you do to raise the volume to boost the lead db levels without changing the tone without muckin it up. Dude I just looked through the comments I ask this same question a couple of years ago? Lol. I better look to see if you already answered it. duh. I also can’t get that huge sound from my super just straight in. I don’t have 5 or 6 grand to drop on a cougar or a half a decade to get one. Us older dudes 60 and above are looking to get that with what we got. You feel me?
Any strat video from 1959-1964 on RU-vid. SRV SRV only! You may play nothing else or this guitar will self destruct they are only made to play SRV licks on buddy!
Great to see a fellow guitar fan like myself. I've been buying and selling guitars and basses for nearly 50 years and i'm still as crazy about them after all these years. Good luck with selling what you need to.
