A few at the local Ogre Mound seem to think that Jeweled Lotus was being used for Free Cast Shenanigans and not to cast Commanders since it comes with a free sac outlet, but seems a bit ridiculous

Wait.. you're telling me MTG recognized Commander as a format after forever not doing so... printed cards for it... and ruined the economy of cards after fucking over players? Ohhhh what a world, who could have ever foreseen this coming?!?! Literally everyone a decade ago if they ever recognized the format.
How about we not ban cards & tell people to figure out a strategy to beat it instead? Commander becoming the #1 format is the problem itself. It should be standard.
These bans are ridiculous (except Nadu that's fair) and im pretty sure that the RC was either drunk or high when they actually took the idea to ban Dockside, Crypt, and Lotus seriously instead of bitch slapping the idiot who suggested it and throwing them out a window for even thinking banning those cards was a good idea. This is a ban that NEVER should have happened and my Dockside is going to STAY in my deck where it belongs.
Crypt is debatable considering how it wasn’t usually an issue in the past (and that sol ring will never get banned), but dockside and jeweled should have been banned before they got expensive. They’re both rather problematic cards that should’ve never been printed. Jeweled lotus isn’t even remotely fair because casting commander turn 1 is such a heavy snowball that there’s no reason you should live the game, and it negates command tax later so it isn’t even a dead draw. Dockside is fun, always goes mana positive to ramp early and then sticks around so you can combo it into a win later, and there’s very few boardwipes that can even interact with it. I get that the cards are staples for big combos, but rule 0 exists for this reason. If you and other groups like to use them, then you can keep using them, but little Timmy using a modified precon at FNM with less than a month of experience shouldn’t have to experience getting docksided to death on turn 5 with an infinite combo.

I am confused on why the same people saying proxies are the way are also the same ones complaining about cards few could afford that have been banned. No one wants to play against a turn 1 mana crypt. A regular FNM used to take 2-3 hours. Commander players are complaining that their games are going longer than 30 minutes? The entire purpose of singleton format was to reduce the power of decks and add multiplayer so players couldn't win on turn 1 or 2. Sure there are other cards that allow fast mana, but they aren't $80 to $300. Pods are still able to rule 0 any cards they want to play, but the general public should be able to set down and know they aren't likely to face these cards. Can you still buy your way with some luck to early wins? Yes, it's just way harder now.

I discard Iron man, to tap down your Darth vader. so my Homer Simpson can attack and create a Bart token that's also attacking. meanwhile I will cycle a Batcave to remove indestructible from your blocking Superman. I really really lost the MTG settings since Universes Beyond came out. :/
after the ban seems like magic is on its last leg for alot of people. I myself am out all this none magic IP stuff secret lair after secret lair set after set its just to dam much
The RC is a convenient pawn for WOTC. WOTC doesn't mind cards being banned in commander, they want to sell new cards to commander players. So they can pretend all decisions are made independent of WOTC, therefore they're not scummy for creating pseudo rotation in commander. However, this change was too massive and instead it'll have the opposite effect. Now nobody wants to buy any new sealed products (at least not at their current prices). I see WOTC walking back this change in some way, otherwise they'll see that nobody's going to be buying $250-$400 collector boxes 5x a year to chase commander cards that will only last for a year or two. Once sales are affected, they'll re-think their strategy.
Cuz of f***ing commander? The only mtg format specifically designed to ruin everything fun, exciting, interesting, and competitive about the game? Default 40 life = red automatically weakest color and blue = automatic strongest color which even as a blue/black mage and red/white hater makes me seethe.....120 card decks so forced n00b sloppy looking deck n long shuffle time....1 of each card so outside similar cards no consistency.....the 4 player games and the politics over real competitive strategy....the colors decided by choice of planeswalker..... Literally every single rule change in commander makes it the only format in mtg that completely destroys everything fun about the game and turns it into a forced n00b low tier player fest full of terrible cards that work in slow politics over sheer competition format. I have no problem with female players...but they always flock to commander.....and this makes most of the guys that i would play go commander just to.flirt with the girls like they got a chance....and i cant enjoy a commander game mo matter how much i try or like the player's..... Literally the only format i can think.of that in every single ruling difference RUINS EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT THIS GAME.
