Hi Sandy thanks for watching yes the sink is beautiful the lady that males them has some gorgeous things. Yes in the end the rectangular tiles look good. I might reuse the leftovers in the cabin kitchen. 🤔
So glad to see you back Katy. Loved all the finishing touches, especially seeing that beautiful sink in its place. The picture on the wall above it is perfect! Looking forward to the next episode. KC from NY
Hi Karen thanks for watching... the lady that makes the sinks is so talented she has beautiful objects for sale, it makes me want to build another bathroom just looking at her shop... Yes the tiles worked out just fine, Jo did a great job tiling them and I might reuse the leftovers for the kitchen... hope all good with you x
I love scrolling the site of the lady that makes the sink... makes me want to build another bathroom she is so talented I wish I could buy all of them 😍
Hi Ruth hope you are doing well.... I wasn't planning on doing so much building work at the start I was so naive but I have learned so much along the way. I also watch Maya Feliz she's renovating in Portugal and she is doing amazing things, she has three buildings to renovate I am so grateful just to have one very small one! I would like to build a wood frame house again it's a really enjoyable project.
Oh yeah! What a luxury bathroom! Rectangular tiles are nice and all the colors match so well! Bravo! Et ce kimono, j'adore! (you look Martijn's videos too, that's funny!)
Hi Vanessa I am glad you liked the kimono I did chuckle when I put it on it was a bridesmaids gift from her wedding and its the most glamorous thing I own but hey at least for once I am not wearing dirty jeans with paint on them 😂 I am happy with how it turned out, next job is the kitchen 👍🏼
Hi! Oh it was funny I took the shots with the drone but it was not happy hovering so close to the cabin so it moves around a lot (like a peeping Tom 😂) The cabin is so small inside and a bit dark with all the rainy days that we had recently so I have to really be creative to share the feeling of the space. I'll try the same thing with the kitchen shots I think, I am starting to plan the kitchen now. Thanks for watching and see you again soon 👍🏼
Hi Wolfgang, yes the summer pressure of my jobs has calmed down and I am really enjoying being back at the cabin. I am looking forward to finishing the outside and building the kitchen. Hope all good with you?
Hello Katy, wow, you have done more structure work then I was thinking, you have done a LOT more then I have realized too, no wonder you need to take some time off. What you have done is very well done too. what a porch shower and that electric cupboard looked porch too Love that green sink and your taste for decor. Do you have the water-source close? 💖💫
Hi ! Yes even for me making the video clips I feel tired just watching it all 😂 But if you keep doing a little bit every day its amazing what you can do I have really learned a LOT. The shower is so luxurious and its quite spacious even though its a small space. Yes the electrical box is beautiful I bought the nice cover to make it less ugly and I think it looks great. So the water comes from the town supply. It is located behind the cabin and all the pipes need to be dug into the ground. I have tried to find a company to come and do this before the winter but I am struggling to find anyone, I am too scared to rent a digging machine! The weather here is so rainy this year no one wants to dig anything because it gets muddy so quickly. I really hope to complete the water pipe installation before the end of the year otherwise it will have to wait until the spring. Otherwise I will have to drain the water in the winter because its too cold and everything will freeze and break. One step at a time. Still lots to do. I think I will build the kitchen next.
Hi Barry it feels good to be back working on the inside of the cabin and I am going to start working on the kitchen and also the underside cladding and rebuilding the steps. And I need to install a log burner before the winter. So still lots to come. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Hi Lisa thanks very much for watching.. there will be a video coming out late september or october with the shower, sink and dry loo build. I'm working on it now. Had to take a break over the summer to earn some money and I started back working at the cabin last week. See again you soon. 👍
Hi Katy, your outdoor kitchen is fantastic- well done! I’m also really pleased to see your followers are growing. You absolutely deserve a successful you tube channel after all your hard work. Congratulations! Best wishes Ruth x
Welcome back!! It is always about priorities, life is full of it, but anyway, nice to see you here and your car also need attention, always something that do that too., 🙏🙏
Hi Barry I have not made any progress on the cabin which is really disappointing because I would have loved to have spent my summer working at the cabin. I have two jobs which pay for my life expenses and they both get really busy over the summer. Last year I prioritised the cabin over my jobs but this year I've had to put time into earning money to live and save money for materials for the next stages of the build. I hope to get back to working on the cabin asap because I have really missed it. Hope you had a great summer 👍
Hi Katy - I've been enjoying your videos - I've been playing catch up. Thought it was time I said hello. I love your fearless attitude and enthusiasm in tackling jobs which are new to you. That region of France looks very beautiful too. Cheers, Derek in Ottawa.
Hi Derek thank you so much for watching my videos. The cabin has come a long way although I still doubt myself at the start of every new skill learning process. Off camera there's lots of research, and worrying followed by finally launching into a new task. I'm at a point in life where learning new things is really enjoyable and motivating. I get courage watching others do things on youtube so I hope to contribute back. Do you like DIY?
Is the gas bottle same for cooker/oven as well as for water heater or did you have to connect a separate gas container to either? :) we are renovating @lithuanianhomestead on a budget and looking for off grid ideas and options
Hi! I have a whole selection of gas bottles and attachments 🙄 this is part of off grid life. So in the summer kitchen I have one for the oven that I also move when I want to use it for the bbq plancha, it is in the cupboard next to the oven. And I have a second one for the hot water which is under the sink. In the cabin I have two, one for the hot water and one for the gas fire (soon to be replaced with a wood stove. I try to always buy the same ones so that the connections are compatible but its not always possible. If you keep to the same model then you can move them around if one runs out of gas. Thanks for watching and I'll check out your channel now! 👍❣️
@@katybuilds Thank you so much for taking time to reply! This is really helpfull! We are currently more active on Instagram / Facebook profile, but RU-vid soon to come.
wow, nice job. The only thing I would change is the plastic roof as it will get very hot from the sun (and it superficially warms up the kitchen... :( )
Yes totally it could also work with a solid roof. I did think about it but it was not so affordable at the time of the build. It would mean less roof cleaning for sure. I also thought about adding fabric or bamboo to the underside of the roof. Hope you are feeling inspired and thank you for watching ❣️
@@katybuilds I think bamboo might work but only if placed above (so that it would absorb that heat from the sun). And yes, I am totally planning on building one myself soon! :D
