Steve, thank you for the guidance, I have learned a lot from you. How to read the river and work with currents and making turns. Special, thanks for surprising video of myself, I see a lot of technical mistakes on my side!
I always forget that you also do the double blade. Good to see. I heard it was a rainy race. I always liked that course, it was fun to see it again with your video.
It was nice meeting you and your daughter as we shared the table to enjoy our Hamburgers and Hotdogs. You were a fast team in your canoe. On the start I see me in my orange Stellar Expedition Kayak as you blew by.
I sure do appreciate you posting these. So good to see all the old race venues that I love so much. Well done! Looks like you were surrounded by K1s at the start and was fun to see you pass the OC1 like he was standing still.
In all fairness, I had to cut corners like they were going out of style to catch him up, and when I did, latch onto him like a remora on a shark. I made him tow me for two miles before the V8 made its move. The V8 was there for most of this, on my side wake and wasn't playing any of my silly games. He led me into the worst of the wind until I wised up and looked for calmer waters.
Nice video----unfortunately the turn instructions were messed up because a large group made the turn thru the bridge around the abutments instead of before the bridge like you did. The guys in the motorboat were of no assistance and were camping out under the bridge to get out of the sun.
Looks like my reply didn't go through, so I will try again: I thought I heard to turn around a buoy, but when I got there, I saw two. I split the difference and turned between them. Did you ever figure out which turn was correct?
@@stevecorbettcanoeracing The previous few years we turned before the bridge. Those bouys you turned around had nothing to do with the race. We were supposed to turn around the motorboat which should have been positioned before the bridge but those guys like I previously said were under the bridge. PS that was me passing you at the 3:00mark.
They said 2020. It was nice not having to deal with a shuttle. BTW, the temperature and humidity were higher in Milton than in Tarpon Springs Saturday!
I love these videos. I like seeing all the people I miss from the races, and I love seeing the venues where I used to race. The ending of the first race was very fun and exciting to see! Well done Steve!
This camera angle is so close to the view from the stern of a C-2 that I was tempted to yet HUT a few times. Paddled Darby Creek hundreds of times, and what a pleasure it was this time to watch you doing all the work while I sat and ate my dinner LOL! How nice to see my old home paddling spot from Florida. Thank you for posting.
I sure missed seeing everyone at nationals. It was good to see the course on video. Thank you for posting this. Still not used to seeing you in a kayak. 😊
Great Video Steve. I was in both the Sea Kayak and the unlimited and saw myself from your camera. Lots of fun watching the river go by and bringing back good memories. Very pretty canoe.

Thanks for posting. It was sure fun to see you in a kayak, and Greenland at that! The Article Hawk has always been a nice boat. Well done. Thanks for posting!
Hey! That C-2 stock team is Cindy and Don Jones. We enjoyed your video especially the parts where it’s speeded up. It makes us look way faster than we really are! What a beautiful course and a great day on the water. Thanks for sharing the video.
Hi Don and Cindy! Since the stock C2 starred in this show, I looked for race results in order to put proper names to it. Thanks for clearing that up and thanks for a great race!
What a great Father’s Day! Ho cool!! That shallow water in the C-1looked dreadful. Good to hear your voice and see everyone, even if only by video. Thanks for posting this!
Could add discussion of "bottom drag" and how to read it. A general rule in racing is to be just off the center of a wave train. Don't want to spend boat energy by bouncing.
Steve, So wish I could run the race virtually this year but it makes no sense for me to make the trip from out-of-state. So sad on so many levels. :-( PS - More music from screaming people, please. Hell yeah!!
