Hello Joe, lower to what? It depends on your seat length and whether you take the Valkyrie in size M or L. If you also order the HD spray skirt, then a roll is easy possible and it will stay in place. The HD skirt has never popped up so far.
Hey, you're just above Alpackaraft's recommendation, but I think the Valykrie in L should still be suitable for you. Just try it out somewhere and test ride it.

Curious if you’ve played around with weight in the boat for whitewater, specifically when you don’t have overnight/backpacking gear. I found it runs best with ~7kg total spread out in the tubes/lap bag. I was wondering (if you do add weight) what you use? I’ve been using wet towels in my dry bags haha.
Seon thank you for the helpful videos you've made on the Valkyrie, much appreciated. 1) How would you describe the performance of the Valkyrie on flatwater rivers and lakes, and on coastal seas? I'm coming from a sea kayaking background, and my first use case is paddling it on coastal sea water within and around cities; second is calm rivers and lakes; third is whitewater to class II and III). 2) If you were to buy 2 different packrafts for more flexibility for my use cases, which two models would you suggest? (I know someone that uses one of the Alpacka tandem packrafts solo for paddling coastal waters for the longer length and better tracking).

First of all, it is important to understand that the focus of Alpackaraft is on whitewater and that packrafts generally have major disadvantages on open water with a lot of wind or current. To your questions: 1. Even though the Valkyrie is probably the fastest packraft on flat water, it is not necessarily suitable for that. Of course you could use it for that, but its strengths are definitely in difficult whitewater and so it is rather oversized for your simple tours. WW-2+3 Trips would be perfect for the Valkyrie. 2. Difficult question. If I had to choose a boat, it would be the Expedition or the new Tango for 2 people. The Tango is the fastest packraft, but I wouldn't recommend paddling alone. Maybe even the Explorer 42 could be a simple option. It's a 1,5 Person boat. 😅 When I would buy two Packrafts, for sure my first choise would be the Valkyrie and then maybe a light boat like the Caribou for Bikerafting trips. Cheers
Okay so can Alpacka and Immersion Research team up to make a spray skirt that fits the Valkyrie? I can't see myself buying a packraft for whitewater with such flimsy skirts (my buddy got one that fell apart after 2.5 trips). Please make this happen!
This is amazing!!! I just recently saw the documentary “wild waters” at the BANFF film festival starring Nouria Newman!!!! I even thought to myself “she really needs a packraft” when I saw her lugging that hard shell around. Wow! Great to see she found one!!
Great images and had to laugh when Nouria talked about a "a fun ride" paddling Koritnica and Soca (ww 3-4+). It has been a nearly 2 years wait since the first Valkyries have been spotted, and Thor mentioned in a podcas, that they would only release a limited number of them and for 2022 most are already reserved for longtime costumers and friends (?). Anyway they are already selling Chinese knock-offs from a German Packrafting reseller. But since many of us want the original, is there any chance to at least rent one until next winter?
This seems a reasonable bridge upward from my Gnarwhal, which I'd never think to roll. Beautiful video and engaging interview. I'm going to work in the pool on my roll and hopefully deserve an upgrade to this Valkyrie in the coming months/years. Thank you for this engaging interview and the beautiful shots on the river!
I love the idea of the internal wall/ baffle in the stern to give the bottom some actual shape you can edge instead of a huge flat suction-cup surface.
Looking forward to the new boat! Might have to put one in the quiver with all my hard boats! Is there a different schedule for release in North America? Link is only for Europe?
