Miss Westwood became my skating coach when she was hired at Hollyburn Country Club in West Vancouver. It attracted world class dance champions to our club for our first summer session. World class singles skaters came too to learn ice dancing from her. She is very intelligent and very funny. She brought your skating to your highest potential for beginners and the World Champions. When I really messed up a jump and took a hard fall she would take a drag on her cigarette and sat " and again". Her love of dogs led her to breeding world Champion Chiwalwahs too. She is very smart, patient and fun a real class act. 💐
Thank you, Ron, for your intuitive understanding that we as coaches needed a Professional organization such as what you, Carol and Helmut believed in and then devised. That gave many of us as coaches in the early 80's a massive benefit in understanding the "how & why" of coaching figure skating and I for one feel it instilled knowledge and understanding that may have taken many yrs to learn otherwise. I was also lucky enough to have been a part of the Canada Ice Dance Theatre for a short time and through your guidance/training and the experience of working with Frank Nowasad, it strengthened and enhanced my love for movement, music, and ice that I still enjoy to this day. Thank you for all your amazing contributions to our skating lives!
Ted, thank you for sharing the highlights from the JGP. The skaters are raising the bar every year. Amazing athletes, heart-warming stories, life skills being built in the process. Awesome.
