This is a damn good question and one that is often downplayed. I lived in the Phoenix, AZ area for a bit and loved the courses there but a couple of them were, in my opinion, unsafe. I had a Love / Hate relationship with Fountain Hills, loved the course but hated the number of dog walking pedestrians everywhere. It was not their fault... not one bit, the course was put in in a time when disc golfers didn't throw as fast and far... disc golfers themselves outgrew the safety levels required. Also Vista... not as bad as Fountain but shady here and there. When it comes to golfers hitting other golfers and lines being crossed or close... I'm sure just about every course has its problems but golfers should always be wary when throwing and playing.
I was at a local 9 hole course just the other day, if it weren't for the drug dealer, homeless dude, and the crackhead lady in the bedazzled diaper, I would have felt completely safe. I don't know if I'll be back. Stay strapped or get clapped. Not my home course. It's beautiful and peaceful.
I was so excited to be able to play Golden Gate Park in SF on a visit during the spring. I could not believe how dangerous that course was. Fences behind tee pads because the pin to the previous shot was just meters away. It’s off my bucket list, and I would never recommend it to others.
The worst my local courses get collectively are throwing across some well-sighted walking paths, a few pins within 50ft of tees, and one hole where an am distance early hyzer could crash the green of the previous hole. Nothing like this, though. That said, at least these seem to have relatively good sightlines where they clash. It's definitely less awful on a super low-traffic course like this, but I agree with you. I'd really prefer not to see such avoidable hazards on courses. It's never a problem until it is.
If you think that one is bad you gotta check out Annie Oakley Park in Oakley KS. It is insane how irresponsible the layout is. I love to check out disc golf courses on my travels and I70 has some good ones!
Oh, that IS AN eMac Truth, nice ;D First comment while watching; Middy is now an MD3 right? Its pretty amazing me having loved my eMac Truth but not always able to use it on my homecourse and thereby have found an MD3 IS4 I really like about a month before you made it your middy before PDGA Disc Golf World Championships / MP40 Worlds ;P
I'll never forget that chuck n duck course I played in Seattle. I think it's extinct now? Holy cow was it unsafe.....the only saving grace was this was back in 2009ish during the days of if you saw someone on the course, you probably knew them by name.
I'm currently in the process of proposing a course in a local park. My original purpose for proposing the course was to generate more foot traffic to discourage delinquent behavior so I worked around the parking lot. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_UYhD5rEDmY.html&ab_channel=SheaStevens Now I'm working on an alternate 9 layout because the local civic association was worried about the walking paths coming into play.
Agreed Eric. We have a local course that has a few "fairways" going over walking paths that are actually used. I don't play the course very much because I don't want to hit anybody. There is one hole that is actually blind, you could hit someone and not even know it.
That's too bad to hear. I know if there is great visibility, sidewalks can work within the design, but when you bring park-goers, blind holes in popular parks it can be trouble. For this course, I was more concerned with hole 16, and hole 10's tee pad only being 10' from a basket.
after watching this course preview, I have been wondering if when I semi-retire in early 2025 if maybe Emporia is a possible place to relocate to? I am 62 years old and want to play as many tournaments as possible over the next how many years. I love the course previews. Are there any other large city parks in town that do not have an established course already? I measure out courses for myself in the city parks where I live and have so much fun doing that. Designing courses is almost more fun than playing them...well, sort of Lol's
I’m from Canada. Playing Shady Ridge this Saturday in Maine and really looking forward to it. Short 35 minute drive across the border. Kevin has some Classic EMac Judges I’ll be buying. I hear you may be making a trip to the course in October. Would love to get out to meet you and try the Supreme plastic. 🥃
I love the Classic Blend Emac Judge for putting, and I would love to have a Classic Supreme Emac Judge as a throwing putter. As a putting putter it is so nice and glidey. I have set several putts in the 55-65 feet range with this.
I putt with the Sense Hope, which i think is the same plastic as Classic Supreme, so I'd love to try another putter in it. And if I have a SuprEMAC Judge, I can do a themed two-disc round with it and my SuprEMAC Truth!
Sense is not the same as Supreme. Supreme is hard premium plastic, a lot like Star, less flexy and tacky compared to Gold what comes to Latitude 64 (or Trilogy plastics). Sense is practically advanced hard basic plastic that is more durable than cheap soft tacky basic but still not even near to Supreme what comes to hardness and durability. I have a Supreme Judge and... did not dig it because when it's hard it doesn't feel the same at all. But I stopped throwing Judge, switched to Westside Crown. Jury is IMO better mold than Judge because of its flat top, but this is of course very subjective.
EMac Judge is the BEST! I have a couple and can't wait to win one of your Classic Supremes. Maybe you could even autograph it for me, please? btw - the Moonshine Classic Blend EMac Judge I bought from you about 10 months ago, and the Classic EMac Judge I purchased at the DD Store in Emporia during a road trip in 2023, have helped me out many times. Can't wait to bag the Supreme too!
I just ordered an EMac Truth in the Supreme plastic, it’s my favorite mid and the disc I got my one and only ace with! I would LOOOOVE to try this Supreme EMac Judge!!!
Got the emac judge in a misprint pack when I started playing. After trying 3 or 4 other molds and not putting any better I went back to the emac judges and realized it’s pretty much what I wanted the whole time, I just wasn’t a good putter. It’s also the only one I tried that I feel good using for putting, approaches, and drives. Currently have primes, classic hard and soft, lucid moonshine and lucid ice(the best, my favorite disc- Need a backup if you have more!) I would love to try the supreme version if you wanna send me one.
