Other race of people are moving to Africa every day, buying up land and doing business they dont want to be anywhere else. Soon Africans won't be able to buy land. Africa is the future its only Africans that dont know that. When they wake up it may be too late. Those puppet leaders are selling their people out.😢😢😢. Where is that money going to foreigners account and country after all they own most of the business and hotels. Had you done your research and look for Blk own accommodation. After 20 yrs why bother going back. Did you do ur research before going? Some people Although living abroad have an account home and top it up occasionally. You have control over that. Its your emergency funds. Children need to connect with their families home wherever that is. Its not always possible but it is vital for them on every level 20 yrs Oh dear, of course there maybe valid reasons for that. The Caribbean which is far more expensive than Africa one would not even spend half of that money in a day. Wherever one travels to it is important to do your research and plan ahead. £1000 per day is outrageous. I’m from Uganda and I visit annually. It depends on where you’re shopping from, what lifestyle you are living when you visit. Airbnb is quite affordable, well below $100 but most visitors want to maintain a certain lifestyle and that will cost. Uber, and extremely boda boda is very affordable. The trick is to learn to live like the locals or close the life you used to live before migrating, and you will be fine. One more tip I could add is have an errand person. Usually a boda rider you can call on at any time to run your errands. Like you, I love home very much and want to go back permanently someday.

I'm African American And I have been to Nigeria 🇳🇬 and OMG things are so Expensive there I could not believe it. I told my husband we wouldn't survive the people in Nigeria will make sure we would go broke I don't understand the continent is so rich but the people are so poor. I say it's a nice place to visit but not to live..and it's very hard to make money there .

The strangest thing is that I as an African is always uncomfortable when overseas. Since the escalation in the rejection of illegal immigrants into Europè and UK, one feels like an intruder and unwelcome but just being tolerated irrespective of bona fide presence in that country. On the other hand , a Black person coming to Africa should be aware of the fact that Black people need to be respected and are not to be regarded as though they have just come out of the stone age. Be prepared to be surprised in a big way. A lofty attitude could be your undoing and any way friendliness does not cost a cent.
I agree with you that Africa is quite enjoyable and to some extent therapeutic for your wellbeing . But spending a £1000 in a day is outrageous - although it may depend on your circumstance. For example I have accommodation already so £1000 last me for up to a month whenever I go to Nigeria. I guess each African country has its peculiarities.

£1000 is too much in Namibia it's Rands 25 000, that money you can rent a two bedroom for R4000, food::etc it's enough, because most salaries don't reach this level
Hi Lucy....l think £1000 a day is too much. So how are the ordinary Ugandans surviving since there is no employment? The same is for Zimbabwe but people live within their means, people grow their own vegetables and do farming and poultry. Health care is expensive just like Uganda. Buy yhooooo £1000 a day is way too much. I think they fooled you because they knew ypu had not been in the country for 20 years. Glad you managed to go and see tou loved ones after so long.
