As a practitioner we need to know that Buddha said there are numerous ways of buddist cultivation methods. The important things is they are all equal, and we just need to choose which one we like and right and then focus on that. And we shouldn't compare them with different way of Buddist cultivation. Imagine there are many different rivers and all flow into the sea. In Mahayana Buddism there are numerous buddhas worlds and numerous samsara worlds in the Universe. Amitabha pure land is one of the easier one to cultivate to reborn in Buddha world because of Amitabha compassion vows. If you have faith and wish to be born in pure land. Always think of Amitabha, recite and chanting Amitabha name continuously or visualise Amitabha buddha and Western pure land are the secrets to connect with Amitabha Buddha. Do not give up during all kinds of hardship in life. May Amitabha Buddha's light shine on you.

Sometimes, when a great opportunity comes to us, we think "this is too good to be true", so we put it aside, we delay it, we reject it, out of fear, suspicion, or pride, and then regret it immensely The Lord Buddha Shakyamuni expounded the great Vows of the Buddha Amita and assured us of their fulfilment, and explained with love and compassion for us the right practice to attain Birth in the Pure Land and get free of all these terrible afflictions. The Buddha wants to offer us that treasure. Is our Faith and Trust in him so low that we can't accept that beautiful gift ? Are we that confident in our afflicted minds to think we can better determine what is real teaching or not better than all these great Venerable Masters who came before us ? I hope one day we can all accept the gift of the Dharma, and practice accordingly, for the sake of all sentient beings Na Mo O Mi Tuo Fo 🙏

I appreciate your sense of humor and your genuine honesty. I am almost 80 y. Old. I do not wish to be reborn on this planet. Several years ago, i believe a spirit guide told me to study Pure Land Buddhism. I was guided to my book shelf to find a book (which i had not read) title: Peaceful Death, Joyful Rebirth, a tibetan buddhist guidebook, written by Tulku Thondup. Since then,i have been practicing with prayers, mantras, meditation. I wish to be reborn on Amitabha Blissful Pure Land. Blessings to you all ❤

Wonderful video, thank you 🙏🏻. Subbed. What I would like to know about this, coming from a more Secular Western Buddhist perspective, is does Pure Land practice lead to greater freedom from Greed, Hatred and Delusion, and thus Dukkha, in this life? Or is it all about the belief that this will be achieved in the Pure Land in the next life, which is kind of how it sounded in the first part of this video? I look forwards to the next video. May you be happy and free 🙏🏻
@DRBUYoutube
@DRBUYoutube Месяц назад
Yes, absolutely. This will be expanded on more in parts 2, 3 (coming soon!) of the series, but very briefly, dukkha, greed, hatred and delusion are all products of a mind that is confused about its "original nature" and reality. The practical aspect of Pure Land-reciting the Buddha's name, is an exercise in "re-connecting" the mind, thought after thought, with this fundamental reality. The more the mind recognizes this, the more it can naturally let go of greed anger and delusion. But every person will connect with different parts of the teaching differently, so probably the most important thing is to try this out for oneself, and then observe the effects in one's immediate experience. Then no more questions need to be asked because one has "tasted the water" for oneself! Hope this makes sense.

@@DRBURU-vid Okay, I will try this practice. Thank you. Though the thing is, would one not need a reasonable amount of instruction in the Dharma to know what to the Buddha represents, in order to re-connect with it? For someone who doesn’t know anything about the Buddha or the Dharma, or therefore “original nature”, how would simply saying a name reconnect them original nature? Many thanks 🙏🏻

I think that the Pure Land ruled by Amitabha Buddha is a real planet far away in the universe. Buddha, a real person, who visited this planet, and personally told his disciples about the existence of this great world. In the west, that is, in the world of stars where the sun sets, beyond the countless Buddha Lands lies the Pure Land of Paradise. The planet that is highly praised by the Buddhas of the universe is a planet that has reached the pinnacle of awakening. Amitabha Buddha is a real existance Buddha who lives forever through the ultimate science of life.

im a lay buddhist. im very confused about buddhism. i see buddhism as philosophy and a guide to live my life, thus when the buddha teaches to investigate everythng and question everything, even his own teachings. i respond to that. i dont believe in faith, as i cant question nor investigate nor prove or disprove its claims, parts of buddhas teachings require faith, which i can either chose to believe in the dogma or not. maybe someone can help explain the contradictions in buddhas teachings?
@DRBUYoutube

Thanks for your thoughtful question! Yes, the topic of faith in Buddhism is subtle and it doesn't help that when we translate the words and concepts to our own language and culture we inevitably have to make it fit into the "conceptual molds" that are available to us. I will try to address the topic of faith in Part 3 of the series. Stay tuned!
@haile308
@haile308 2 месяца назад
@DRBURU-vid that would be great thank you. If you can please dig deep into this topic. I don't mean just the artificial faith that different cultures have propagated over the centuries, such as the influence of superstition and stories of supernatural act and phenomenon. I really want to understand from Buddha's teachings and the contradiction of certain parables where I have to believe or need to have the faith in order to classified as a Buddhist. Fundamentals and dogmas such as believing in rebirth and karma are intrinsic to Budhist teachings. However it's also asking to have the faith that such processes exist. How can I prove that rebirth and karma exist? These thoughts have always troubled me. If I don't believe in this, then am I still regarded as a Buddhist? Saying all of this, I do try my best to practice right thought, right speech and right act,. Far from a good nor bad person, just a normal and very ordinary guy that resonate to the Buddha's ultimate quest for truth and peace of mind.

Buddism use different methods and words to help us understand our state of minds and eventually surpass them and attain liberation from thoughts, emotions etc. and also not fall into duality of minds which we use our habitual tendency to perceive things happening around us. You must not attach to the methods or Dharma but to find a method that is suitable for you and practice accordingly, to tame our mind through chanting Buddha name is one of the method. After you listen to buddist teaching, relate your inner state with that and then let go the languages or words as they are only the tools to learn. Sakyamuni buddha said you cannot see real buddha if you think buddha are physical form, words, languages. Real buddha is in everyone of us, our buddha nature.

Sources: The first part on the difference between the mind and thoughts is based on the following passages: “The Buddha exclaimed, ‘Ananda! That is not your mind!’ Startled, Ananda stood up, placed his palms together, and said to the Buddha, ‘If that is not my mind, what is it?’ The Buddha said to Ananda, ‘it is merely your mental processes that assign false and illusory attributes to the world of perceived objects. These processes delude you about your true nature and have caused you, since time without beginning and in your present life, to mistake a burglar for your own child - to lose touch with your own, original, everlasting mind - and thus you are bound to the cycle of death and rebirth.” -The Surangama Sutra With Excerpts from the Commentary by the Venerable Master Hsuan Hua, Buddhist Text Translation Society, p. 33. “[You] should shine the light of your understanding on the phenomena of the material world. Since all phenomena are subject to change and decay, how could any of them serve as a basis for the practice of Dharma? Contemplate the phenomena of the world, Ananda: which one of them does not decay? But you will never hear of space decaying. Why? Space is unconditioned, and so it has never been and can never be subject to dissolution.” -ibid, p. 171. "Good and Wise Friends, the emptiness of the physical universe can embrace the shapes and forms of the myriad things: the sun, moon, and stars; the mountains, rivers, and the whole earth; the fountains, springs, streams, and torrents; the grasses, trees, thick- ets, and woods; good and bad people, good and bad dharmas, the heavens and the hells, all the great seas, and the entirety of Mount Sumeru and all mountains-empty space contains them all. The emptiness of people’s nature is the same." -The Sixth Patriarch's Sutra - A New Translation, Buddhist Text Translation Society, p. 24. *** The section about being present with things as they are here & now can be traced to discussions around mindfulness (sati). See for example www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/mn/mn.010.nysa.html *** For the section on investigating non-self, I am indebted to the lucid and liberating work of Ilona Ciunaite. For a wonderful practical, direct and non-academic discussion on the topic, see liberationunleashed.com In Buddhism, the concept of non-self (anatto) is pervasive and discussed extensively. See for example, in the Vajirasutta: “Why do you believe there’s such a thing as a ‘sentient being’? Māra, is this your theory? This is just a pile of conditions, you won’t find a sentient being here. When the parts are assembled we use the word ‘chariot’. So too, when the aggregates are present ‘sentient being’ is the convention we use. But it’s only suffering that comes to be, lasts a while, then disappears. Naught but suffering comes to be, naught but suffering ceases.”,

It is very important to chant Amitabha name with pure faith means with no doubt. There were many Buddhas names in Dharma scripts. Amitabha was introduced by Sakyamuni buddha because the vows of Amitabha that allows us to born in pureland and practice and learn straight from buddha. There were a lots of missing pieces pass down since Sakyamuni Buddha period. As I know pure land buddhist was spread through northern India which is Mahayana Buddhism and it has been translated to Tibetan buddism and East Asian buddism independently. So it's original from India definitely. Amitabha buddha Dharma is very simple and easy practice method but is very hard for some people to believe it. I personally listen to Dharma and chanting Amitabha name at the same time. There is no contradiction if you see Dharma is the boat for us to reach enlightenment, while chanting Amitabha name is the boat to reach pureland first and continue practice to reach enlightenment. Wish you all the best.

The logical circle is quite interesting. On the one hand, it’s the easy path because the work is done for you by the Buddha, all you need is to recite his name in complete faith. On the other hand, if you didn’t get transported to the pure land it must be because you didn’t have complete faith, so it’s your own fault and nothing to do with faulty doctrine. Since it’s not actually possible to choose that you believe the whole thing is immune to analysis since you can only find out if you already have complete faith.
