Is the Kuhl Kollusion Jacket true to size? I am 5.10 and weigh between 175-198 fluctuating between the year deepening on bulking or cutting at the gym. Would an L size do the trick? Or should I got an XL?
I stopped carrying it horizontally on my belt on the weak side when I got my StabWorks Punch Knife - since I only carried it for self-defense if somebody much bigger was grappling with me (I'm 5'6" & 140 lbs) & I couldn't get to a more powerful weapon unless I could force some distance between us. For that, it serves its purpose, though the Punch knife (at a much bigger price) does it much better. It is a force multiplier to a weak-hand punch even if you barely know how to fight. BTW, there must be 9 different blade sizes & lengths in the Minimizer line. The drop point & the bowie are the smallest blades at not much over 2" & the best for defensive use in a grappling fight when you can't get at a folder or concealed carry. Don't expect the knife to be the only self-protection weapon you carry, its purpose is to let your off-hand do a lot of quick jabs to the side & abdomen to free up a more suitable weapon for a real defense (unless you plan to whittle your opponent to death. Don't carry it as a neck knife unless you use a metal bead chain. If somebody gets your paracord lanyard from behind, they can strangle you, while a metal ball chain will break long before your neck does. Neck knives, if carried under clothes are also hard to deploy & can swing around so you can't reach it. Also look at the StabWorks Clinch Knife for the same purpose.
@@BlueSun4886 nice response- I can tell this is the type of thing you think on. I do still carry this on my neck with a ball chain for the reasons you mentioned as well as a fourth knife on my offhand waistband.
I’m so glad to hear you say that about the Cold Steel mini-tac… I have one too & feel the EXACT same way about the sheath; it is awful all the way around. Way too big in EVERY dimension, WAY too tight retention - to the point where it’s literally dangerous trying to unsheath the knife because you have to use 2 hands & pull SO *$*#! Hard…. Glad it’s not just me….. maybe someday when I’m bored I’ll just work it in & out for hours (giggity) and see if I can loosen it up, but until then…. Yeah…. Cold Steel MiniTac sheath SUCKS….
It's just called a lock back, you had it right. VG-10 is a fine steel, easy to get that edge back. This is a Police 2 model. 1st gen Police as well as 2nd gen were all stainless and aluminum handled, except for there was one Police 2 with g-10 black scales and ATS-55 steel. You've got a good one there.
I know this is 2 years old, but you can take a heat gun to the sheath part, get it warm and press it together a little more so that the catch is tighter. Pretty easy fix.
I bought a similar looking Alpha SV from eBay - really don't know what to make of it. I have owned various Arcteryx gear of the years and am very familiar with the quality. Careful inspection of this jacket looks flawless - the quality really is what you would expect from Arcteryx down to the smallest details - top notch stitching, YKK powder coated and color matched, Arcteryx detailing of zip pulls, Recco is also present of arm. There are just a few red flags however - the inside label states size S/S instead of the usual S/P for men's size Small and it came with a tag stating Paclite Plus which it obvious is not and certainly looks and feels like the genuine Goretex Pro. My guess from the exacting quality of this jacket indicates it must have originated from an authentic Arcteryx production facility in China but was produced off the books so to speak. There seems to be a lot of this going on judging by what I've been reading on other forums. Too late to send the jacket back and haven't worn it outside yet but will be interesting to see how it holds up when I get round to testing it.
I had the possum which is just a smaller version of the bandicoot. I really like their products and it was made quite well. I would say the bandicoot probably a good in between size out of all the options.
I got one to carry my shit I want on me, like an essentials or possibles pouch. I was worried my little naa.22 msg wouldn’t fit but it’s a little shorter than your filter. 👍
Great feedback, I’ve been considering picking up the Flint & Tinder jacket since it’s been so wildly popular but after owning two of these jackets now for sometime, I’m quite content.
Use a heat gun to warm the sheath. Then with gloves and the knife in the sheath, press on the sheath near the opening and this will tighten the sheath around the knife. Problem solved.
The Karambit Minimalist looks awesome. I have the Persian as well and I love it, wearing it right now on my neck actually! I bought the CRKT MInimalist Persian to piggy-back on a kydex sheath along with my Becker Bk9 once I get it. and then it'll match the kydex as well as some G10 scales I'm planning on getting, Ranger green.
I just got mine from a shipment, found it to be a little too stiff expecting something a little softer to wear casually. It's really well made for sure, very comfortable and not that warm in 30 degree celcius temps. What do you think of the stiffness?
if it's such a good fake you can't tell, does it matter unless you're trying to resell? most of these jackets that are fake are made to the same specs, arcteryx just wants to gatekeep their gear. there really is no difference between a perfect fake and a real one. i have one of each and you really can't tell the difference in real world conditions. there are definitely different levels of fakes. for what it's worth, yes it's fake
