I believe Popular Alm was a more brilliant horse than the mighty Gammalite but Gammalite was all stamina- as tough as you could get , so with the sit all the way behind Popular Alm , and neither of them having to do much , if any , work during the race , it was no surprise that Gammalite was able to run over the top of his arch rival . We , the trotting fraternity, were blessed to have two such magnificent horses competing against each other over several years - they were true champions.. Thank you for the video , it was wonderful .

Just wondering - seeing you have such a wonderful collection - do you have the moonee valley harness racing for 15 August 1987? Or perhaps any races from 1979?
What a colt. Incredible the improvement he made from his winter 2yo campaign in Brisbane, where he was beaten by Prince Frolic in the Castlemaine, to his 3yo spring campaign. TJ improved him 8 lengths. Absolute tragedy that he didn't get to complete his autumn carnival. He's more or less forgotten these days, but if he'd gone through that autumn carnival unbeaten -- as he would have -- there'd be statues of him today.
@@rodneyplant6255 I tend to agree... he just had no chinks. On ability Poppy, Mount Eden, Christian Cullen and Lazarus... how tf can you leave out BAF?
Just loved to listen to Ian Craig as I grew up as a young lad. It's true about him making time for everyone. I popped into the broadcast tower once unannounced & Ian welcomed me as if i was meant to be there. Wonderful caller and amazing human.
