Does anyone have a recording they can upload of my one-time friend David Quail's original song "Born on the Fourth of July," which Quail hoped would be used in the film or to promote the film?
I always felt like this theme sounded like gladiators entering the arena. Lol. It’s epic, as you’d expect. So good. America is fortunate to have such a great composer scoring our sports broadcasts.
Justin Sublett: First, my opinion of John Williams' compositional skills is on the highest pedestal. Second, growing up and watching Joe Montana's use of great intelligence, athletic ability and uncanny instinct was a joy to watch. It was sad I once read in an interview, that he was never without pain. Third, and finally- as someone with a great interest in the Ancient Classical world, I found it amusing to learn the Julius Caesar sponsored Gladiator games, feeling it was a good thing to do politically. But witnesses say, when Julius Caesar attended these games, he used it as an occasion to read and get some writing done.
I wonder if it was a dilemma for them, this choice. I think the music in the film version works better for the Shooter scene, but you're right, the transition music is too perfect. I wish they could have pulled a savantish music edit and had the best of both.
@@sillygoose635 I wish I agreed, in my opinion the version they currently have sounds majorly overproduced, compared to Williams original version. The original version which uses only orchestral instruments is more cinematic and dramatic in my opinion. I get "Imperial March" vibes from it, what can top that?
He did this theme as an encore when my wife, sister, and I saw him at the CSO Symphony Hall in 2014. All I could think about was making a reboot of the classic movie “Dirty Dozen”. What a piece of music!!!! 😃👍🏻. Love John W.!
yeah its awesome he composed for two of the great film franchises(Star Wars & Indiana Jones) and he composed for one of the best Leagues of all time its a win
