I’m an avid RU-vid consumer that is into a lot of different things. My passion is freshwater aquarium fish. I have been keeping fish since the 6th grade. But after kids my focus was turned elsewhere. After a 10 year period without keeping fish my wife surprised me with a 75 gallon tank for my 40th birthday. Little did she know that was a huge mistake! That 75 gallon tank ignited my passion all over again. I found the world of exotic plecos. The pleco is by far my favorite fish in the hobbie. That tank was just the beginning. I now have 16 tanks set up and running. I have started breeding angelfish among other types of fish and shrimp. My goal with this channel is to document the progress of my fish keeping along with the building of a full fledge fish room in my garage. Please join me on my adventures into the aquarium hobby.
I’ve been lucky with my 2 sets of 3 n a 180 … 1st set are 8-10 inches with Minimal aggression .. been together since about 1 inch … also have 2 rubber lips and 13 giant danios 2nd set n a 180 also all around 4 inches no problems yet
I just set up an acrylic Clear for Life 45S. It’s a 48 x 13 x 17 tank. With such a narrow foot print I decided to go with an Oase Biomaster Thermo 350 to minimize the equipment inside the tank. I loaded it with Seachem Matrix……..
How big were your aquariums? Im setting up a mini fish area with about 15-20 tanks 10 gallons or less. Also what type of filters were you running? Awesome video!!
Mixing young angels with discus works fine for a while. Problem I found trying to mix angels with my discus was the angles matured far more quickly, started to pair off and then got aggressive, stressing out my discus. So I ended up needing to sell off my angels. I suggest 86 degrees because many parasites can't operate above 85, so I run mine between 86 and 87. I also suggest you run some UV. to keep the bacteria down, super clear water is key, check out my Discus setup for more info on that. Beautiful Discus BTW :) Things always start off well, the problems will start showing up around week 3. Get that UV going ASAP, sooner the better.
Thanks for the info. The tank has been running since the beginning of the year. All is well so far. If the Altums pair off I will pull them and put them in their own tank.
Hey Tommy . I recently lost 40 baby angels for no apparent reason ? Was changing water 25% every day , feeding brine . Slowly died 1 by 1 ? About 5 weeks old ? And help or advice ? Ty . Appreciate u . Celena
Sorry to hear that. The only major loss I had was when they sprayed my garage. You will lose some due to genetics also if they are very young and in-jest brine shrimp eggs it will clog their intestines.
I had one years and years ago when my kids were little. She was the only one in a150 gallon tank and was the coolest fish ever. They’re full of personality!
I have a 10 year old marineland c360. I see they made an improvement on the new marineland on how the powerhead attaches. Do you have issues with the marineland sucking air and blowing micro bubbles or leaking? It seems like the new model won't have that issue.
TK - Cheers from Chicago. Just found your channel and subscribed! Just in time from your hiatus :) Not that you have time but come visit my fish room. Let's grow our channels together!
I have the Oase thermo biomaster 600 on a 360l tank. The prefilter and built in heater were what sold it to me. I've been running it nearly 6 months now, and clean the prefilter every 2-3 weeks with the blue 45ppi sponges. My bioload is 27 small tetras, 10 corydoras, 2 angels and 1 bristlenose. Have 2 trays of the blue sponge in the bottom of main filter, 2 trays of biohome and the rest the supplied foam. All readings good with 33% water change every 10 days. Very impressed with filter and will clean out main filter in next month or so to see where we are at. Flow still good so not expecting an issues. Thanks for the comparison.
I decided to go with the marineland because my dad has a few marineland canister filters that have each lasted 10 years, with only needing to change the big gasket for the top piece on one of them.
