They’re delusional, those defending this ending always gotta mention the most overtalked npc response “it’s the world of cyberpunk there’s no good ending.” Always quoting what Dex said and Johnny at the ending of the three base games. This ending isn’t good because V survives, V didn’t survive, they just exist, they’re there. They aren’t really alive

@@yeetnessthegreater1298 V's what, 25? Don't worry he's got the rest of his life to build something again. Johnny died believing in what he did - and he wasn't any happier. Jackie wasn't any happier. David went out in a blaze of glory too...what did that ultimately do? Nothing. There's chance through life. In death? Only a drink named after you. V surviving is a fact. You cannot state he didn't survive, he just exists. Night City moves on, people move on, no matter if you're alive or dead. That's the lesson of life.

@@kingmack6326 David could've lived with Lucy without dying had he not augmented himself forever like a junkie. In the end, that's what he was to fulfil her dream. Noble as that may be, to me at least, you lose more that way. V has all his life now to make something out of it. It's all about perspective and your point of view.

Imo yes. It's the only ending where V gets some semblance of happiness. Even that one is kinda melancholy. Panam talks about maybe finding a treatment out there for V, but I think it's pretty obvious that V doesn't believe it, so they're going to die anyways and they know it. But at least they won't die alone. Worth noting that there's a good chance that this ending from Phantom Liberty probably actually happens in all other endings, except maybe the Aldecaldo ending , we just never get to see it. Every other ending is essentially the same from the perspective of Misty and Vik. V just disappears. Maybe they hear about them going out in a blaze of glory, maybe they hear nothing, but all endings are essentially the same for them. Except the Aldecaldo ending, where it's clear that V stuck around Night City for a bit after the raid on Arasaka. It's the only ending where V doesn't just up and disappear from their lives without warning. Maybe that would change the outcome of of their stories, maybe not.

@@lavabeard5939 There is an entire wing of philosophical argument regarding the difference and is a point the game make several times, including reiterating on several occasions that Johnny is an AI, the Engram Jackie is an AI an Alt herself outright stating she is not the original Alt. It's a distinction the game itself makes. The game Soma does a good job of exploring this subject.

@@MacMeaties you see what you want to dude. none of the epilogues remotely hint at V being a "fake AI V" and neither does the johnny ending hint that it's not the real johnny, even though hes in another body. it's also simply never brought up in the rest of the game that johnny is a fake johnny, not by himself or any dialogue with other characters. I also don't know how you reference soma while giving the total opposite takeaway of that game. soma shows how continuity is maintained when copying consciousness, which also happens to split in 2. the prestige also has the same gimmick. you seem to have missed the point of soma. the main character of soma is the same guy from the intro to the end, even when there are 2 of him, one on the station and one on the satellite.

@@lavabeard5939 There is a point in Soma where the 3rd iteration of Simon has a full blown argument with Chun 2 over how they had been lead to believe they would be the one to go on the ARK but weren't, instead a 4th Simon was created. The point of this is the false interpretation that the individual's mind is being transferred to the ARK when the reality is that a copy is being made. Simon 2 is not Simon 1, nor is Simon 3 Simon 2, nor is Simon 4 Simon 3; they are all unique entities that exist concurrently and from the point at which the copy is made each entity diverges on entirely different paths living experiences separate from each other. Just because Simon 4 remembers everything Simon 3 does up until the split doesn't mean they are Simon 3. You're being asked "if a single consciousness diverges into two and forms new and distinct memories and experiences past that point are they still the same existence or two different ones?". The implication when you look through the window as Simon 4 at Simon 3 having a complete breakdown is that they aren't. CP2077 essentially dodges this by deleting one of the consciousnesses so you don't have to ask.

@@MacMeaties simon 4 is also simon 1, 2 and 3 up until their divergences. simon 4's life history began as a baby back in the past. it didn't begin when he appeared on the satellite. if simon 4 could go back in time and get implanted in simon 1's body, it would be as if nothing changed, except for the memory gained along the way. you can be a nihilist about it and say that there is no self that continues through time. but then you also wouldn't have made the original misguided statement that engram V that's downloaded to V's body isn't the real V because there is no "real V" in that view.

Just the 2 year coma, then practically losing everything you knew and everyone you loved made it the worst for me. Compared to the other endings.

A completely normal human in a city where its considered a miracle to die of old age, despite most of their population being enhanced and it cost them everything else they had. Unless V leaves Night City asap they wont last long before they have a miserable death alone and forgotten and the only option is becoming a crippled governement pet dog. Even dealing with Arasaka was a better outcome than this. This was a literal monkey paw ending, they had a real hate boner for V giving them an ending where they survive but in exchange of everything they had plus robbing them of their future as well

@@notdogubut this is literally the best ending for a Cyberpunk. It might suck at first, but they all die horrible deaths or compromise themselves eventually. V never does. He just loses his ability to kick ass and he still has plenty of options left. He’s a highly skilled negotiator, tactician, and had a job offer from one of the biggest companies in that world. He’ll be fine.

@@willlliorca7024 V is still liable of having a miserable death by being mugged, by stray shot or just being unable to pay for medical services. They are homeless, jobless and pennyless and they cant go back to the merc world even as a fixer or they risk being killed same as before but this time with no way to defend themselves, with lessened influence due to a 2 year hiatus like Dexter They lost not only their present and friends but also their future and aspirations. Even in the Arasaka ending V has to compromise but still have some options in the future. In this ending V's future aspirations is to get something to eat and to survive until the next day. Its the miserable hobo ending for god's sake, V has fallen on a deep hole and all the stairs leaving were burned besides being a governement lapdog(they knew that V was basically a sitting duck in their current state if they go back to Night City) or off themselves Even Morgan Blackhand that is a legendary light chromed solo has Neural processor, Sandevistan boost, smartgun and vehicle Links, interface plugs, chipware socket, nasal filters, two cyberoptics (targeting scope, low-lite, infrared, anti-dazzle), right cyberarm (Rippers, heavy SMG, microwave/EMP shielding, hydraulic rams), muscle & bone lace and Nanosurgeons. So V mercenary days are over even if they were the Da Vinci mercenary equivalent
