Welcome to my RU-vid video channel. I am primarily using this channel to store and share my motorsport videos taken between 1986 and now. Some of the cars and people featured are not likely to be seen racing again, so it is important to preserve this history. I will try to categorise the clips as much as possible ... you will see a lot of Historic Porsche NZ, but many other cars and probably planes will feature. I will also use this channel to help support my real estate business as I do on occasion commission drone videos of properties. Cheers GT
I got to see the Taycan and 911 factory in 2023, unfortunately cameras were not allowed so I have to go off memory. The engine assembly line is actually nearly unchanged compared to here....just twice the number of engines on the line compared to 1986. The body assembly looks nothing like it does now.
When the japanese arrived ant the facory, to help reorganising and updating the factory, they thought it was a dismantler place. Just seing the 911 drive between the benches and worker is a big throw back. I got to see the factory a couple of times, more updated. Now its a state of art, but , no glamour. Car is still number 1
Thank all of you line workers for putting your skills into manufacturing some of the most fun cars of all time ! I own 2 944s. They are my pecious babies. SALUTE !
Good Old Racing Ray !! A great guy , showman!! He and that 930 Turbo , were one together . Turbo is now on show in Richardson Truck Museum , Invercargill . Well worth a visit . All the Best Ray .
You had a lot more time and access than I had on my Treffen visit in May 1986. The guide was always waiting impatiently for me follow along. I went back in 1987 and 2011 and cameras were verboten!
So cool. My buddy and I were replacing his clutch on his 928. He had other engine components to repair as well. We got fed up and just removed the motor, torque tube and transaxle. It was a lot to remove it but felt worth it to just see what the hell we were working on. We were able to replace everything with out a fight. Probably the wrong way to go about it; but made sense for us.
THE 80s at PORSCHE were days of extreme quality and the cars were made to last and were very exclusive. Now every tome dick and harry seems to own one...it has lost its exclusivity like Mercedes has. SAD>
Thanks for posting this, I remember being at this very event!! I was 17 at the time, its had a lasting influence on me!! So good to see it again!! I have some photos somewhere...must dig them out!!
I went to my first 24 hours of Daytona. That year and I loved it. That Aurora V-8 From Oldsmobile. What a grungy loud in your face v-8. If they did not break down. I think Wayne Taylor,Mr Jim Pace would have won the triple crown. Thanks for the video. And I never knew that a Supra and a Skyline ran at LeMans.
