We absolutely loved the Rainforest Twinkl adventure, we need buy the badge. Looking forward to doing more adventures with my boys during our home educating.
Here is a link to our online survey which we would really appreciate people filling in to help Twinkl Originals work out how best to serve the home ed community. forms.gle/7Mn5bUi3gv16YUhz5
Can people interact with lessons without having Facebook? If not, then can I do Facebook in a closed private way, as I don't really want Facebook at all.
Unfortunately due to the settings on RU-vid you cannot run webinars or videos for children and have comments open as part of their privacy settings. The only way you could post comments is watching via facebook. You could set up an alias facebook account and only use it for live lessons as they are all on the public Twinkl Home Ed page.
Thanks so much! I'm at the beginning of my journey and I've been trying to figure out things on my own on Twinkl and for the most part it worked but I had no idea about the curriculum aims - which is a perfect place to start. Thanks again!
I'm in a complete burn out at the minute single mum to a 10 & 13 year old, at least that's what I think it is a burn out...been home educating a year in April...always knew it was going to be tough with my mental health issues...literally can't get out of bed I'm exhausted...to hear other people say their struggles helps me knowing I'm not alone. Just hate it makes me snappy at them too....think I need some me time...thanks for your video it helped...and hope my comment helped you to realise your not alone either 😊x
If you want to make an interactive element more sturdy and it's on flimsy paper, you could "laminate it" by covering both sides with clear packing tape, then cut around the image/shape.
Housework is a huge struggle. I think because I am home a lot, if not all the time, there is an expectation for the house to be tidy. And it's just impossible at times with 4 children, 1 of them teething! I beat myself up about it in my mind a lot
Oh my goodness, please be my best friend! LOL! Every single one of those struggles mentioned resonated with me! In terms of housework, I too have tried all the methods... Mindset shift has definitely helped. Acknowledging that my house will never be spotless, the bathrooms won't be cleaned as often as I'd like and often (especially with the weather turning) the laundry will be piled high. Don't beat yourself up about it! Breathe and do the next thing you are able.
I have been homeschooling for four years and I struggling with exactly the same things! So nice to hear someone sharing their struggles. The housework completely overwhelms me! We do chores in the morning and school in the afternoon. It just felt like the washing never end, there is always books and papers all over. The children ( ages: 7 and 9) help but sometimes it just takes longer getting them to sweep or clean the bathroom than me doing it. I over plan and have a long list of things that we should do. Then half way tough the year I get burned out and we end up just doing the basics. Leaving me feeling like a failure.
Exactly the same regarding house work. I just wanted to throw the towel in and say I’m done. I can’t seem to function or focus when the house work is sky high…and even resources, the kids just use them in ways in which they are not meant to be used!! Yeah what shall we do?! I have no solution but im glad im not the only one struggling with this.
I'm so glad you posted this. I resonate with it all, particularly the over planning! Decided to 'start' the year off on the second week of September, had everything written down in my lovely Twinkl planner and that's as far as it went. I have done nothing! We have however, found some lovely groups/classes and my daughter had made new friends and built on those friendships. So I'd say that's a win, and we'll try again next month 😂
Basically this entire thing 😂 it me. We have just started our home Ed journey but as an ex teacher I am fighting every urge to over plan and to push. I have to say, the housework and consistency have really hit home with me - I align with adhd traits and have been flagged by my therapist as probably having adhd and I think those struggles would possibly be connected. I know you’ve spoken before about potential adhd, I wonder if it’s the same for you. Anyway, thank you for making this video - was having a little wobble but feel less alone now!
I struggle when my son gets bored with learning, I feel then I come to a stand still and don't have a back up plan. He is waiting to be assessed for ASD and I sometimes doubt myself with how I handle things and don't feel qualified enough 🤦🏽♀️ housework I've cracked it ,I will do a quick flick before my son gets up , and just a blast at the weekend inbetween when I'm not needed .
It's so great to hear about home ed struggles. We can get bombarded with people's perfect looking home ed lives, but reality is rarely like that. I share all your struggles, and more, but I wouldn't change the life we have chosen together. Thank you for bringing a little reality into view and helping me to feel that I am not alone in my struggles 😊
It depends on the age of the child. They could always help with the cutting and sticking or selection of resources. This lapbook is aimed at early KS1 however do check out our other videos for more lapbook ideas for different ages.
