"All these recordings are straight from the record to the computer, no EQ or pre-amp used. I plug the single output from the turntable into the MIC input on the back of the computer using an adapter from Radio Shack. The cartridge I use (GE VR II) produces plenty of voltage for volume and no preamp is needed." When I started this RU-vid channel in 2008, the above statement was true. After almost 15 years and an additional 12 RU-vid channels, I learned a lot about how to improve the recordings. I still plug the turntable into the computer, but now I can use different cartridges and stylii for different records, and since 2013, I've used a suite of audio enhancement programs by Brian Davies to bring out the most from each recording. I'm still learning and hopefully improving the audio. Hope this answers all the techie questions.
This recording is so fresh and clever yet is polished to perfection, it is a delight! My father, Red Lionberg, is on drums but unfortunately is identified on the label as Robert (he typically did not use his first name professionally), and our last name looks to be misspelled. I was a young child when he worked with Miss Anita, and I can remember that she spoke to me softly and sweetly but that her laugh was very hearty, which was a jarring contrast. And she wore her gloves and hat even inside our hot South Shore Chicago apartment in the middle of the day. Even casually, she was a fascinating, glamorous figure!
Super!!! Thank you for upload this wonderful music! I saw the movie five pennys with Satchmo, Danny Kaye, and others as a child. Best regards from Austria!
this and another of their performances "satan takes a holiday" are on yazoo - pioneers of the jazz guitar. how freaking good is this? i'll never get sick of it, it fills me with joy every time i hear it.
Came over the Broadcasts To Schools an' we sang along. Kelburn Primary late fifties, maybe Scouts too. Absolutely non-pc, an' it came to my mind while supposedly practicing my french chanson. Glorious memries.... !
My cousin sang a pretty crude version of this to me around 1970. I remembered a few lines of it. I grew up listening to Spike Jones but hadn't heard this one before.
I was looking through a stack of records at a yard sale and found a red record Ray McKinley Borderline with his autograph. I found it to be pretty cool. I am going to display it in a frame in my man cave.
