I would add that a paradiddle it’s not a combination of singles and doubles, but unique stroke in its own category. As I try to get my paradiddles up to 200 BPM I’ve realized that I have to practice paradiddles as much as I practice doubles. I have to think of paradiddles, not as a rudiment, but in the same way I think of singles and doubles. In other words, now it’s 20 minutes doubles 20 minutes singles and 20 minutes paradiddles.
