Five Hole Frank here I am a goalie, combat veteran 11B (OEF) and firefighter before a line of duty injury on a call resulting in multiple surgeries and severe nerve damage to my long thoracic nerve forced me to be medically retired. Retraced my collecting roots and created Five Hole Frank’s Collection. I am breaking hockey hobby boxes and random box subs, also revealing graded card returns, thoughts/opinions on products and try to get out the best info I possibly can to help you decide if a product is right for you. Always check the odds of a box read the set list and watch a few videos before you invest! I rip high end and mid range hobby boxes in hopes some can see and help make decisions on if they like the product or can afford it. If you see it pulled here odds are it ends up in my PC or eBay this is my store link www.ebay.com/str/fiveholefrankscollection
You guys are going nuts over these Connor Bernard cards and pay any price for a box. I bet you they are still printing is card their is probably a million of them
What do you mean "You Guys"? Did you not listen to me bash people spending tons of money over him. Talk of FOMO spending a thousand last month and its under $250 now? Finally I say "I could care less it will be sold." in regards to the silver burst draft rookie? I am not going nuts over anything. If anything it is happy to be able to sell something to keep making content. Thanks for the watch! Volume on next time. :)
There is a blue parallel in subsets, the cards I was using as tools to show there was a blue and purple the difference is jersey number for serial on purple.
I was EXHAUSTED from busy few weeks and the release is one I’m not a fan of so even getting this content up was a struggle. I was grateful for the Pasta I researched it and it’s not only a “case hit” some are not serialized. His was a variant /199 so I was stoked about the Bruins hits. The bounty codes will sell, the rookies / legends are lower print runs and I had a few so I might salvage some back on these but it’s a loss minus the PC hits that I don’t sell.
People get their feelings hurt if the wind blows the wrong way gotta C.Y.A., I have a second disclaimer to the others complaining about everything possible. They don’t think I will chirp back in comments. 😂
Always love to see others sharing their love of the hobby and keeping the tradition going! Initially, Trilogy looked like it could be fun. The more I see it though, considering the lack of a guaranteed auto now, it seems like a harsher product to open. Cheers! 🏒
Appreciate it! That’s what my channel is about at least some get it. Versus complaining about the speed due to watching emotionless breakers profiting off people who buy in for hopes of a big PC hit that the odds are not in their favor.
@@fiveholefrank Exactly! That’s also where so many of the price increases keep coming from too. It’s unfortunate, but it’s good to see some people out there still trying to spread the enjoyment of it as a hobby. (And not trying to make it about profits) Awesome to see man!
@@1stpairingdbreaks I do it in hopes it helps out brother, I don’t sway people nor tell them what to buy etc. Just rip, enjoy & discuss pros/cons while having fun with jokes / references / hockey talk.
@@fiveholefrank For sure! Especially when it comes to trades, playoffs, draft picks, there’s a story behind the player on the cards too. It’s fun to see the growth of the sport and the hobby!
Totally agree with you about the FOMO on Bedard. Back in 2020-21, I was all in on Kaprizov. But never purchased one of his YG cards in the secondary market. I have about 7 or 8 of his YG cards and all of them pulled from a box
Honestly you would have to order it from Etsy from the guy that made me the two I own. I do it for simplicity I don’t pay for all the custom card stand companies to create the over the top brand card displays.
I actually like Trilogy. I know quite a lot don't care for it but that's fine with me. It allows me to buy numbered rookies cheaper than YG. I know with the 3 levels and parallels there still is a lot of RC for each but they're still less than high production run of base YG. Karte looks very promising from what I've seen of him. The only reason I won't be buying this year's Trilogy is that none of the Bruins rookies are in it. With the Bedard hype driving prices up I want to spend wisely on hunting Bruins rookies this year. Great video with some nice pulls.
I always say I don’t like it but then I do, it became more of a logistical thing which turned me off. They have switched its normal release date to come out and offer rookie autos with serials / parallels earlier in comparison to other years. The Bedard Tax is absolutely ridiculous and I can see the online giants even suffering where they need to come back to earth. People are spending thousands on base PSA 10, not many people rip as much, the early release of Trilogy killed other products value. In the video I complimented the quality of cards, this years is far better than previous. The cards have nice card stock and the parallels look good similar to 2020 however the years between have horrid colored parallels, crooked pasted serials or reverse serials vs pressing into card because they were made out of free card day stock. This is good because of the Bedard Tax. Upper Deck wants to impress those new to the hobby ripping for a Bedard. The previous two years parallels even serial numbered low are brutal. Fluorescent Booger Green Generations /99 last year was bad. I’ve also had good luck with trilogy. The point I’m trying to make is upper deck is rushing to get rookie autos out by using trilogy releasing it early. There’s still backlogged on years worth of product that’s higher end, they gave up redemptions and just say call us for multiple items I pulled from SPA. Their goal is to make as much off Bedard and present themselves as best possible for new collectors. Unfortunately next year those new collectors will wonder where the quality went.
Hulkamanina is running wild. 2/2 on post series 2 Bedard pulls. It isn’t the biggest nor the best but it’s still under /499 Rookie Bedards. Probably the Calder winner unless Faber sneaks past him due to plus mins and being a defenseman. Faber isn’t far from the Calder. 💪😎🤘
I feel like there is alot of FOMO (Fear On Missing Out) with Bedard with the product pricing. He's had a great rookie year, but I'm not hopping on the train yet. We'll see where he is in 3 years (look at Laffy [the most comparable hype wise since McDavid], Bedard could go the opposite direction). The great thing about hockey was that before 23-24 it was relatively affordable compared to say, football or basketball for hobby boxes. $120 USD for a hobby box (this is including 21-22 with zegras, caufield, raymond, seider, mctavish and all but Zegras (due to injuries and not knowing what defense is) has turned into a 200 ft player. Bedard may go the way of Zegras though when it comes to a hot rookie season to meh after teams figure out his tricks/tendencies. $200 for banners, manufactured patches, and sticker autos? Gimmie 21-22 Premier for the same price any day.
I completely agree with everything you just said, I open products just to make content for those interested in ripping it. I am not a fan of SPGU I think the whole market is all over the place with all the Bedard stuff UD is pushing out while still backlogged. I actually eyed a box of premier for a very good price but I already ripped for content haha
