Hi, thank you for providing us with this information. I have a question that I cannot find clear information; Do you know if I can obtain my supervision hours working as a special education paraprofessional in a public school setting?
Hey enjoying your video. I do have a question . For someone who wants to start an ABA practice, what are some things we should be doing ahead of time to ensure we are able to receive pay from the insurance company ? What are the hurdles when first starting your business and you have clients; is it difficult getting insurance companies to look at you as a real practice?
@@deshaericard5852 I can make a video on this. But the biggest thing is understanding billing it getting a biller. The insurance company will see you as a practice with 0 clients.
You’re so deserving ❤I’m very proud of you and all your milestones 🙏🏽 congratulations 🎉 again Dr.Nelson I’m sure Mr Daryl is very proud of you boo 😘 keep up the amazing work 😊 and why am i crying 😢 this was so sweet 🥹
Hi! I stumbled on your page and love it. My why is that I have two children on the spectrum and want to open a clinic. My Bachelors is in Psychology. Do you recommend me obtaining a Masters in ABA to obtain a BCBA certification, to open a clinic or could I open one without becoming a BCBA? Im in Mississippi.
It depends on your end goal. Both routes will require some sort of sacrifice. If you aren’t interested in becoming a bcba you can hire one. But if you want to build first and once stable add on staff then becoming a bcba is your best route. Thanks 💕
This is where i continue to drop the ball...started a business plan...andnhavent gone back to it in a couple years. Keep telling myself to...thanks for this tip😊
I did the same thing went to school for psychology turned around, went for my BCBA. I don’t know what the pay is in your state but it’s a bag here where I live. Now, I’m working on opening up my own ABA center. It’s so good to see other African-American BCBA out here. I love seeing us succeed.💯🙌🏾
@@aleayh wow that’s pretty cool! I don’t think enough people know about being a bcba. Our field can deff use more ABA companies being led by POC. There was been an increase over the years but can do better.
Hello... First let me say congratulations to you on obtaining your BCBA... I'm currently looking into obtaining my BCBA and it just dosen't make sense ... so I have 2 Master's degree's one in Fine Arts and 1 in Criminology and a Minor in Law. My undergrad in in Criminology and a Minor in Behavioral Analysis ... But those credits are only good with a Masters Degree.... it won't apply with my undergrad.. However, aren't there 4 different paths to obtain this credential? At this point I believe getting the HOURS will be harder than taking the test. I'm definitely about to apply to be a RBT and I will try to reach them tomorrrow
This is a loaded response so I’m not sure on where to start or how to help. Overall you would need a masters that qualifies. There are a few ways to obtain the “hours (fieldwork)” but if you don’t have a qualifying degree you cannot obtain the hours. If you have a more specific question let me know and I’d be happy to help if I can
Im taking my exam this december, IF i fail for the exam will i be sitting for task list 6 or still task list 5??? (I hope i dont have to retake but yeah need to know lol)
Hey I would check the website I cannot recall off the top of my head with the 6th edition goes into effect. However, say if it is Jan then yes you would be tested off of that edition. Let’s not put that energy out there! You’ve got this
I’m a RBT and not a BCBA can I open a clinic and hire a BCBA with that said can I become Credentialed with insurance companies? Or do I have be be a BCBA
Thank you for this video. Do insurance companies allow you to bill for your lcsw Services as well as your bcba services for the same client? In other words, can you provide mental health counseling with your lcsw license and then also provide ABA Services with your behavior analyst license? I also have both of these licenses and am looking to do Private practice in the coming years.
@@Bella-Bell-mw7ng you have to consider how much money you already have saved or can save and the cost of starting your business. I’ll do a full video on my experience which may provide more insight
@@johnsonjohnson6323 when looking at the requirements the degrees I stated in the video were the once accepted. They may change it or have. I’d suggest checking out the site or sending them a direct inquiry
@@nandi.nelson can I ask how long it’s been since you got your bcba? When I look at their guidelines for pathway 3 it only says masters degree required from a qualifying institution. It doesn’t specify a degree. When u talked with the school they said aMSW will qualify.
Hello Nandi! Thank you for sharing! I found this video to be very helpful. (: I recently graduated with my MSSW & will soon be starting the process of working towards my LCSW but also want to become a BCBA. Because my MSSW was not ABA-focused, would you recommend that I join a post-geaduate certification course through a university? Or how did you go about that?
@@morg5248 thanks for watching happy it was helpful. I made a video on the bcba requirements check It out as you may not be eligible with an msw. They go back and forth with the degrees they accept but currently it’s ABA, edu or psych
Thanks for the information! I'm currently running an ABA Business for the past few years, but recently hit some set backs and struggling with the Marketing. Can you make a video focusing on the Marketing strategies in more detail?
@@reemnassir646 I believe I answered your question on IG. But others may have this question so I’ll answer here 😊. You need to have a masters to be eligible to become a bcba. So your bsw paired with a masters in one of the areas I referenced in the video will do
I started my BCBA path a couple years ago. I have a masters in special education and a bachelor’s in psychology. I attended a program that gave me the VCS classes that I needed. The program did not have supervision built into it so I worked as an RBT to get my supervision hours. It seems like it takes forever to get the hours you need working part-time. I work as a special ed teacher full-time but there isn’t a BCBA in my district that can provide me with supervision hours. Paying for a BCBA to supervise me is expensive. I feel lost
Does your RBT role offer supervision for free? Also I know if can feel like forever when only able to count a minimum number of hours. Maybe you can do more indirect hours. Since you will need more indirect than direct. Maybe also speak to the supervisor to come up with a plan to Maximize your hours.
First, conduct market research. Spend a few hours understanding your target audience and competitors. This will help you to Identify gaps in the market and see how your business can fill them. Second, create a simple business plan. Outline your business goals, strategies, and financial projections. This will help you clarify your vision and create a clear path.
