Fun fact that i (supposedly) found myself : the enemies in this room is actually finite, the harpies just spawn a lot but not infinite, so does the legion captain but they only spawn like few times. And i use the fighting border to find this out, so if you get out of that fire room the enemies won't get out of that room at all.
